Abstract Fluid and crystallized intelligence are acknowledged as distinct facets of cognitive ability during brain development, but the specific neural substrates molecular mechanisms underlying them remain unclear. This study used a sample comprising 7471 young adolescents (mean age 9.87 ± 0.62 years) from ABCD cohort to elucidate differential correlates fluid intelligence. Our findings indicated that micro-level MRI phenotypes such water diffusivity were closely associated with intelligence, whereas macro-level gray matter cortical thickness indicative We further investigated by correlating characteristic markers spatial transcriptome profiles PET imaging. Results showed had significant associations serotonin glutamate system, while was related serotonin, dopamine acetylcholine system. Furthermore, we examined impacts lifestyle factors on these two forms how pathways mediated impacts. investigation suggested physical activities, screen use sleep duration influenced mainly through mGlu5 receptors 5HT1a D2 receptors. In conclusion, illustrated basis between perspectives neuroimaging, neurotransmitters, lifestyles in adolescents.

Background: Individuals impacted by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are at greater risk of developing obesity, however, few studies have prospectively measured ACEs and obesity during childhood. Associations with the adoption obesogenic behaviours childhood, which directly contribute to also understudied.

Early life adversity (ELA) has substantial, lifelong impacts on mental and physical health development. Data from the ABCD® Study will provide essential insights into these effects. Because study lacks a unified assessment, our objective was to use critical, human-driven approach identify variables that fit ELA domains measured in this study. We clarify best practices measurement of ABCD through creation scores based well-established Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire another inclusive broader ELA. Variables previously used measure dataset were determined via literature review. assessed each variable its utility measuring at baseline follow-up time points by individual completing assessment (i.e., youth or caregiver). selected align with decades measurement, therefore, can be research teams as measures The review critical analysis items led development three ELA: an ACES-proxy score, youth-reported ACEs-proxy score (ELA+). code using R calculate their constituent for future adversity-related research. is one largest longitudinal studies development, data available secondary analysis. Our existing coding schema allow examination dataset, informing understanding risk, resilience, prevention.
