There is increasing interest in evaluating biodiversity to preserve ecosystem services. Researchers can sustain policymakers by providing tools, such as indexes and indicators, that need constant implementation become accepted standards. Implementation may vary from re-evaluation of existing indicators introduction new ones based on emerging threats biodiversity. With the aim contributing compelling estimate counterbalance pollinator loss, we screened bioindicators. We first selected indexes/indicators applied agricultural contexts concurrently endorsed a regulatory agency. then extended our analysis arthropod taxa formally recognized at least national bodies. Our procedure identified combination surveys various animal remote landscape analyses (e.g., using GIS other cartographic tools). When animals are arthropods, most only address confined environments grasslands, riversides). Indicator strength was improved simultaneous inclusion biotic abiotic components. Pollinator sensitivity changes micro-habitat level widely appreciated help distinguish practices. A index pollinators, including wide monitoring scheme supplemented citizen science, currently fostered European level. The results obtained an finally enable focusing strategic funding. will reach this goal.

Problem statement: To halt global biodiversity decline, many conservation measures are set up by citizens, companies, or stakeholders. However, even if originally well-intentioned, some of these actions could have direct indirect negative effects on when ecology is not accounted for. The management bees a good example such misplaced practices. We identified three successive errors in the which can disrupt focus real issues: multiplication honey bee hives, installation insect hotels, trade solitary cocoons for release into wild. help bees, as well general, we must consider prioritizing efficient more broadly complexity ecosystems.

Many insect species have shown dramatic declines over the last decades, as a result of man-related environmental changes. which were formerly widespread are now rare. To document this trend with evidence, old records collected specimens vital. We provide here data on 9752 bee (Hymenoptera: Apoidea) hosted in several museums south-east France: Musée des Confluences Lyon, Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle de Marseille, d’Aix-en-Provence and Départemental du Var Toulon. Most (9255) come from France, include 552 named species. For most these geographical location, including coordinates, is based locality (town or village) where they collected. The captured beginning nineteenth century to 2018. identifications 1440 specimens, mainly belonging genus Bombus , considered reliable, performed been checked since 2009. This pilot study provides insights into the Moroccan public’s understanding and willingness to engage in insect pollinator preservation, highlighting widespread awareness alongside significant knowledge gaps. The success of biodiversity conservation efforts, especially those aimed at pollinators, is greatly enhanced by an informed committed populace. Understanding public perceptions pollinators important as it shapes effectiveness strategies their implementation. Although our does not include every demographic society, portion populace: educated urban youth. a key population that will be crucial developing future strategies, given tendency towards increasing urbanization putting cities forefront sustainable development. Our assess opinions on services, declining numbers Morocco. We conducted survey distributed mainly through media over four months, receiving responses from 301 individuals. results indicate aware decreasing populations main threats, shows participate strategies. However, gaps persist roles ecology pollinators. While honey bees bumble are well-recognized for role pollinating agricultural wild plants, there less about other common such solitary flies. Additionally, essential contributions non-bee remain widely overlooked. To address these findings, we recommend implementing specialized educational initiatives increase vital functions supporting ecosystem services. In order adopt more encompassing strategy upcoming outreach efforts within national should emphasize made lesser-known strive sectors currently involved conservation. while this valuable insights, sample size limits generalizability conclusions. Future research with larger diverse samples would beneficial validate expand upon findings provide comprehensive all areas perception engagement Expanding sampling older, educated, demographics strengthen initial broaden application, beyond attitudes.

In recent years, there have been relevant advances in precision beekeeping. These are mainly focused on proposing sensor systems that collect crucial information for bee welfare, creating integrated architectures allow beekeepers to monitor the current state of their hive through real-time data. However, is a lack predictive models would anticipate specific events endanger welfare and lead decline productivity. Specifically, approaches accounting high correlation among internal variables beehives not developed date. To address this research gap, multivariate models, including auto-regressive state-space time series implemented applied four different hives from we4bee project. aim predict (four temperatures, humidity, weight) by utilizing meteorological conditions which exposed. A cross-validation adapted data was employed model generalization assessment. Prediction based vector exhibited superior performance forecasting compared models. Overall, approach error correction yielded best balance between fit, prediction, computational cost. The VEC-based produces predictions with maximum mean absolute errors 177 (312)g weight, 3.366 (3.802)% 1.122 (1.685)°C temperature at 1 (3)-days ahead when dealing exhibiting degree variables. Moreover, requires less than second perform fitting process, makes it particularly interesting application big environments. integration such into decision support system meet need potential threats colonies, streamlining monitoring processes while eliminating continuous inspections.

Abstract Wild bees are experiencing population declines globally. Despite urbanisation replacing habitat and forage with synthetic materials, urban residential gardens have the potential to become pollinator hotspots, increasing bee diversity abundance. We explored public knowledge attitudes towards bees, ‘bee-friendly’ interventions (BFIs) conducted by residents. reviewed motivations barriers which influence or prevent this, using town of Woking, England, as a case study. An online questionnaire was distributed in 2023 residents balconies. Results from 286 surveys showed 98.3% respondents performed ≥ 1 BFI most common action planting “pollinator-friendly” plants (75.9%). Sentiment positively correlated number BFIs performed, 94.8% felt about bees. Most participants indicated altruistic behind their performance BFIs. Implications for insect conservation: Though altruistically motivated undertake conservation wild performing at least one BFI, lack understanding is biggest barrier preventing action. Governments, policymakers, plant retailers should direct citizens organisations engage inform ecology improve provision within neighbourhoods.

However, external factors such pesticides can negatively affect both bees plants pollinated by bees, well human health. Therefore, less toxic or non-toxic plant protection products have become a popular research topic for sustainable environment. The purpose this study was to determine effects four different commercial diatomaceous earth (Bio, Demite, Detech, Detech WP) on workers Apis mellifera Bombus terrestris under controlled laboratory conditions. Each product sprayed dust particles 15 seconds at Maximum Field Dose (10 g/m2). While worker positive control groups (control +) were exposed flour, those negative –) not any treatment. highest mortality rates B.
