Abstract Background Selenium (Se) fertilizer and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are known to modulate cadmium (Cd) toxicity in plants. However, the effects of their co-application on wheat growth soil microbial communities Cd-contaminated unclear. Results A pot experiment inoculation with two types AMF application Se under Cd stress showed that alone or combined significantly increased biomass. combination reduced available concentration soil, especially Ri treatment. High throughput sequencing samples indicated had stronger influence bacterial community compared fungal network seemed have more complex interconnections than network, finally shaped formation specific microflora affect availability. Conclusion These results indicate AMF, particularly combination, could successfully decrease availability relieve harm by modifying rhizosphere communities.
