An experiment was conducted to determine the most effective mulching material for maximizing turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) yield. The study carried out in low country wet zone of Sri Lanka, specifically Ultisols, during 2021 and 2022, using locally available materials, including paddy straw, husk, cinnamon residue. A control group included, where grown without any material. experimental setup followed a Randomized Complete Block Design, with three plots, each comprising thirty plants arranged rows plot at spacing 30X30 cm between plants. Plants edges beds were excluded from data collection. While there no significant difference per plant yield husk straw (1251 g 1227 g), all materials resulted significantly higher yields compared group. Results revealed that exhibited highest (1523 suggesting is also an cultivation same as other materials. Additionally, showed tuber dimensions, such number mother rhizomes (5.97), primary fingers (31.10), secondary (134.1) control, further highlighting its effectiveness. However, had effect on leaves, leaf blade length, petiole length both treatment groups, factors may play more dominant role determining these parameters. Cinnamon residue can be achieving better Ultisols.
