An
experiment
was
conducted
to
determine
the
most
effective
mulching
material
for
maximizing
turmeric
(Curcuma
longa
L.)
yield.
The
study
carried
out
in
low
country
wet
zone
of
Sri
Lanka,
specifically
Ultisols,
during
2021
and
2022,
using
locally
available
materials,
including
paddy
straw,
husk,
cinnamon
residue.
A
control
group
included,
where
grown
without
any
material.
experimental
setup
followed
a
Randomized
Complete
Block
Design,
with
three
plots,
each
comprising
thirty
plants
arranged
rows
plot
at
spacing
30X30
cm
between
plants.
Plants
edges
beds
were
excluded
from
data
collection.
While
there
no
significant
difference
per
plant
yield
husk
straw
(1251
g
1227
g),
all
materials
resulted
significantly
higher
yields
compared
group.
Results
revealed
that
exhibited
highest
(1523
suggesting
is
also
an
cultivation
same
as
other
materials.
Additionally,
showed
tuber
dimensions,
such
number
mother
rhizomes
(5.97),
primary
fingers
(31.10),
secondary
(134.1)
control,
further
highlighting
its
effectiveness.
However,
had
effect
on
leaves,
leaf
blade
length,
petiole
length
both
treatment
groups,
factors
may
play
more
dominant
role
determining
these
parameters.
Cinnamon
residue
can
be
achieving
better
Ultisols.
