Controlling the Orobanche weed parasite is a major challenge for farmers, and individual application of various management practices has not yet proven to be successful in addressing this issue. To develop an effective strategy managing parasitic weed, Integrated Management (IOM) approach become priority. Using Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) methodology, we analyze trade-off farmers’ preferences between different attributes IOM scenarios estimate their willingness pay (WTP). A sample 124 Tunisian faba bean farmers participated study. The findings indicate that are open adopt includes Orobanche-tolerant varieties, cost technical package does seem obstacle. Nevertheless, feel rewarded delaying sowing date from November December. Furthermore, study highlights show no clear use herbicide, specifically glyphosate, as well practice intercropping with fenugreek. While increasing yields remains priority, willing more reduce plant shoot count. In conclusion, there significant heterogeneity preferences, financial situation, severity infestation significantly influencing decision. Policy recommendations derived our results.

Abstract Based on a workshop held at the German Weed Science Conference in February 2024, this paper explores strategies for reducing herbicide use arable cropping systems to enhance weed diversity. Although potentially detrimental crop yields, weeds play vital role supporting ecosystem functions such as pollination, nutrient cycling, and microbial The reduction of is regarded an important management strategy preserving biodiversity, which has been declining Europe. Three are discussed: site-specific application, species-specific dose rates, selective herbicides with narrow target spectra. Each evaluated its technical feasibility, agronomic risks, potential benefits While challenges high investment costs, limitations, need precise distribution data remain, emerging technologies like AI-driven detection autonomous robots offer promising solutions. emphasizes importance combining reduced other practices, rotation mechanical weeding, achieve sustainable ecologically beneficial control. A shift farmers’ perspectives “clean fields” more comprehensive guidance ecological value essential widespread adoption these strategies.

This bibliometric and systematic review assesses research progress climate change adaptation strategies to control invasive crop pests in sub-Saharan Africa. Scientific publications on pest management Africa a context of were extracted from papers published between 1991 2024. A literature search was conducted Scopus, dimension, google scholar, followed by screening data extraction compliance with ROSES standards. Findings indicated that such as armyworms, fruit flies coffee berry borer cause huge losses. Communities are adopting integrated management, water harvesting, drip irrigation, resistant varieties, improving production efficiency. Agro-ecological practices reduce invasions while preserving the environment. Meanwhile, chemical insecticide use remains an emergency solution its effects would be more efficient. However, promising approaches emerge around biocontrol, agroforestry integrating gender-tailored strategies. Nevertheless, regional disparities persist scientific output. In conclusion, represent major plant health crisis Africa, this highlights innovative Their development will require coordinated mobilization catalyze sustainable agro-ecological transition needs address these multidimensional challenges. Future should assess farmer’s perception effectiveness existing for pests.
