Abstract Corn is one of the favorite crops in China and grown a large area drought-tolerant areas. Tillage practices fertilizer management are important for crop growth, there lack research this area, especially places where rainfall scarce. Therefore, it great significance to explore anti-aging characteristics photosynthesis maize leaves by replacing inorganic with organic under different tillage methods. From 2022 2023, two methods, rotary + subsoiling (R S), three alternative (P1, P2, P3) four control CK treatments were used measure POD SOD enzyme activities, PRO MDA contents, yield at growth stages. The results showed that: (1) With advancement period, P1 treatment was optimal substitution application Obviously, R S farming superior traditional farming. The contents SOD, 41.89%, 56.95% 15.91% higher than those CK, 40.21%, 21.22% 16.94% P1, respectively, content 38.68% lower that 11.37% respectively. When P1 performed, resulting Pn 23.73% 6.01% P1. After S, Tr reduced 24.06% compared 11.14% R. (2)The S) always better (R) alone, Yield highest tillage, an average 13663.79kg/hm2, which 6.39% P2 treatment, 7.90% P3 14.67% Compared (R), obtained 2.53% higher.(3)At grain filling stage, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, peroxidase (POD) proline (PRO) content, net photosynthetic rate (Pn), number, ear length 100-grain weight significant positive correlation total yield, but negatively correlated bald tip length. According our experiment, can be seen activity instead chemical best, ability strongest, highest.

Water-saving irrigation techniques play a crucial role in addressing water scarcity challenges and promoting sustainable agriculture. However, the selection of appropriate water-saving methods remains challenge agricultural production. Additionally, molecular regulatory mechanisms crops under are not yet clear. This review summarizes latest research developments application different technologies to five important (rice, wheat, soybeans, maize, cotton). It provides an overview impact on crop yield, use efficiency (WUE), physiology, growth, environmental effects. compares contrasts with those traditional drought stress, emphasizing significance combining genetic engineering for developing drought-resistant varieties improving WUE. Furthermore, integration various can stimulate new management strategies, optimize resource utilization, enhance sustainability, representing major focus future research. In conclusion, this underscores importance technologies, especially when combined engineering, scarcity, increasing yields,

In the context of water restriction, adoption innovative technology and saving strategies is crucial to sustainable agriculture production. Thus, we sought emphasize contribution precision irrigation based on Internet Things (IoT) smart sensors for optimizing use. The effects different drip regimes total dry matter (TDM), grain yield (GY) use efficiency (WUE) winter wheat grown clay-loam soil under semi-arid conditions Tunisia have been assessed three consecutive growing seasons. trial included fully irrigated (FI) treatment (100% crop evapotranspiration (ETc)), two deficit treatments (DI1, DI2 corresponding 75 60% ETc, respectively) rainfed DI3, replicated each. results showed that TDM GY increase with increasing amount. At harvest, highest values were recorded FI DI1. Reducing amount by 40% (DI2) resulted in a significant reduction, quantified as 52.7, 45.7, 30.4%, respectively, cropping Across all seasons treatments, WUETDM ranged between 4.11 6.32 Kg m−3. achieved treatment. However, no difference was observed particular, during 2022–2023 2023–2024. terms WUEGY, DI1 while reductions registered DI3. at 75% ETc tensiometers can be used an effective strategy optimize without compromising yield.

Monitoring agricultural drought is crucial for mitigating yield losses in winter wheat, especially the Huang-Huai-Hai (HHH) region of China. Current indices often fall short accurately representing water supply–demand dynamics crops, neglect irrigation practices, and overemphasize intensity rather than its evolution overall impact. To address these concerns, we developed a novel transpiration index utilizing Water Balance Winter Wheat (WBWW) model. This integrated variations atmospheric conditions, soil moisture crop resistance, practices to enhance evaluation supply demand dynamics. The WBWW model was initially validated against field measurements, achieving an R2 0.7573, thereby confirming reliability subsequent analyses. create mechanistic understanding demand, adopted reduction rate actual potential identify events constructed joint probability distributions duration severity using copulas. led development Drought Assessment Index (WDAI). grade threshold WDAI established based on historical data from HHH through series statistical determination methods. Our findings showed that successfully identified 87.36% samples according their recorded grades, with 97.13% within one records. Comparative analyses retained regional existing indices—the Crop Deficit (CWDI) Relative Soil Moisture (RSMI)—further demonstrated effectiveness. study represents robust tool dynamic monitoring offers critical insights into practices.

Abstract Early cessation of precipitation, low soil moisture, light‐textured soil, and inadequate water‐holding capacity limit tef ( Eragrostis ) yields in the semiarid regions Ethiopia. To address these challenges, this investigated impact water conservation methods on moisture retention productivity. Four methods—ridge furrow (RF) with tied, broad bed tides, mulching, traditional farmer practices three varieties (Boset, Simada, Tseday)—at two locations were evaluated. The treatments arranged a split‐plot design replications. split plots by varieties. Soil influenced maturity date, biomass yield, plant height, panicle length. In contrast, interaction effects variety only heading date. ridged treatment resulted grain yield 1823 kg ha⁻¹, 8406 content 20.8% at flag leaf stage, decreasing to 17.2% filling stage. These findings suggest that RF method can help farmers mitigate drought production.
