To investigate whether premyopia is a risk factor for myopia onset and outdoor activities can protect against development in premyopic children the Recess Outside Classroom (ROC) study. Nonmyopic schoolchildren aged 7 to 11 years were recruited from two schools Taiwan. One school implemented ROC program, which encouraged go outdoors during recess. The control maintained its usual schedule. A cycloplegic autorefraction was performed. Premyopia defined as spherical equivalent refraction ≤ +0.75 diopters (D) > -0.50 D. After one year of follow-up, multivariate logistic analysis revealed that program reduced by 61% (odds ratio [OR] = 0.39, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.21-0.70, P 0.002). However, status increased 14 times compared hyperopic (OR 14.0, CI: 1.86-105.3, 0.010). In subgroup children, myopic shift also significantly lower group than (-0.20 ± 0.60 D/year vs. -0.40 0.66 D/year, 0.017). Myopia incidence (19.6% 37.8%, 0.001). Multivariate regression showed participation associated with (-0.22 -0.39 -0.06, 0.008) CONCLUSIONS: onset. policy includes more time effectively prevent children.

Background/Objectives: Preceding studies have reported the efficacy of multifocal contact lenses (MFCLs) in slowing myopia progression. Recently, a novel type MFCL, i.e., extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) lens (CL), was designed. Here, we retrospectively investigated progression associated with EDOF CL wear. Methods: Twenty-four consecutive myopic children (24 eyes; mean age, 13.9 years) received CLs to control and participated study. We measured axial length (AL), spherical equivalent (SE), choroidal thickness (CT) at baseline after 1 year wear compared changes. Results: The AL, SE, CT were, respectively, 26.31 mm, -6.38 diopter (D), 235 μm, 26.40 mm (p = 0.03), -6.61 D 0.05), 244 μm 0.18). AL decreased 20.8% cases (≧-0.05 mm/year), whereas 58.4% had stabilization or an increased (≧+0.05 respectively. patients engaged outdoor activity time 200.6 min/day, mm/year) 126.7 min/day. change correlated significantly (β -0.46, p < 80% shortened (≧+20 μm/year). Conclusions: Our data showed that stabilized over 40% wearing CLs.

Relevance . Myopia is a significant issue in ophthalmology and public health. Its progression not only leads to decline visual function reduced quality of life but also increases the risk vision-threatening complications. In recent years, alongside contact lens-based approaches that slow excessive eye growth, pharmacological, optical, behavioral myopia control strategies have been actively developed. Objective : summarize systematize data from randomized clinical trials conducted over past five years on efficacy non-invasive methods, identifying most effective their combinations. Materials methods. A literature search was eLibrary, PubMed, Scopus databases using keywords “Myopia Control” “progressive myopia”. total 3,714 studies published between 2020 2025 were identified, which 52 full-text articles met inclusion criteria. The final analysis included 36 publications provided both refractive error axial length changes. Results. use defocus-incorporated multiple segment (DIMS) other spectacle lenses has demonstrated high slowing elongation, confirming significance promise this approach. However, questions remain regarding magnitude consistency long-term efficacy. Low-dose atropine shown greatest effect when combined with single-vision correction. variability results due different concentrations necessitates further research. Increased time spent outdoors associated individuals pre-myopia low myopia. combination red-light therapy correction proven more than alone. While these methods show promising results, are required confirm safety. Conclusion Effective children requires development incorporating interventions. Despite availability mechanisms action treatments.
