Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are composed of metal nodes and organic linkers that can self-assemble into an infinite network. The high porosity large surface area MOFs facilitate the effective enrichment mass transfer analytes, which enhance signal response improve sensitivity electrochemical sensors. Additionally, their derivatives possess properties unsaturated sites tunable structures, collectively demonstrating potential for sensing. This paper summarizes preparation methods, structural properties, applications in sensing, emphasizing sensors' selectivity from perspectives direct indirect detection. it also explores future directions prospects with aim overcoming current limitations through innovative approaches.

In recent years, substantial advancements have been made in the development of enzyme-free glucose sensors utilizing pristine metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their combinations. This paper provides a comprehensive exploration various MOF-based sensors, encompassing monometallic MOF as well multi-metal These approaches demonstrate improved detection capabilities, facilitated by augmented surface area availability active sites within structures. Furthermore, delves into application complexes derivatives sensing. Derivatives incorporating carbon or metal components, such cloth synthesis, rGO-MOF composites, core–shell structures noble metals, exhibit enhanced electrochemical performance. Additionally, integration MOFs with foams biomolecules, porphyrins, enhances electrocatalytic properties for detection. Finally, this concludes an outlook on future prospects sensors.
