Refractive errors, particularly myopia, are among the most prevalent visual impairments globally, with rising incidence in children and adolescents. This review explores epidemiology risk factors associated development of refractive focusing on environmental lifestyle contributing to current surge myopia. We provide an overview key genetic molecular pathways driving pathogenesis myopia other emphasizing complex interplay between predisposition triggers. Understanding underlying mechanisms is crucial for identifying new strategies intervention. discuss approaches slow progression pediatric populations, including pharmacological treatment regimens (low-dose atropine), optical interventions, modifications. In addition established therapies, we highlight emerging innovations, agents advanced devices, insights into potential future treatments. Cutting-edge research gene therapy, inhibitors, neuroprotective may yield novel therapeutic targets that address root causes errors. comprehensive underscores importance early intervention highlights promising avenues research, aiming pediatricians guidance ultimately improve clinical outcomes managing preventing young adults.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of low-level red light (LLRL) therapy compared single-vision spectacles (SVS) in controlling myopia progression, focusing on spherical equivalent refraction (SER), axial length (AL), and subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT). A comprehensive search was conducted across PubMed, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect, Web Science, including only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving myopic patients aged 16 years or younger. Mean differences were calculated with 95% CIs, I² statistic used assess heterogeneity among studies. The meta-analysis included 11 RCTs. At three months, significant observed between LLRL SVS SER (estimate: 0.225; CI: 0.042, 0.408; p = 0.016) AL -0.137; -0.280, 0.007; 0.062). six noted 0.450; 0.351, 0.550; < 0.001), -0.179; -0.278, -0.079; SFCT 35.281; 23.230, 47.331; 0.001). By 12 remained for 0.806; 0.675, 0.937; 0.001) -0.294; -0.416, -0.172; These findings suggest that effectively reduces progression children, as indicated by improvements SER, slower growth, stabilization slight increases SFCT. However, further studies are necessary determine optimal dosage, long-term safety, overall efficacy therapy.

Abstract Background: Prevalence of dental caries is increasing among children and adolescents, which can delay growth development. This study aimed to determine the association between severity myopia in a large-scale school-based population China. Methods: The data from School-Based Chinese Adolescents Health Survey (SCAHS) were collected for all adolescents aged 6 18 years students Zhejiang Province China 2020 2023. Multinomial logistic regression models used estimate myopia. Results: All with severe primary school (OR = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.50-0.94), middle 0.86, 0.79-0.94), high 0.80, 0.67-0.95) less likely have compared those no after adjusting age, gender, family structure, academic pressure, regional classification, economic level, environmental support, frequency eating sweets, fried foods, alcohol consumption, smoking status, internet usage time, sleep duration, weight parental myopia, outdoor activity eye habits. Conclusion: Our found significant inverse relationship chinese students, strength varying across different educational stages. These results highlight potential integrated public health interventions targeting low levels but at risk

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Myopia is a prevalent refractive error, particularly among young adults, becoming growing global concern. This study aims to predict myopia undergraduate students using ensemble machine learning techniques identify key risk factors associated with its development. Methods A cross‐sectional was conducted in Dinajpur city, collecting 514 samples through self‐structured questionnaire covering demographic information, prevalence factors, knowledge attitudes, daily activities. Four feature selection Boruta‐based (BFS), Least Absolute Shrinkage Selection Operator regression, Forward Backward Random Forest (RF) identified 12 predictive features. Using these features, methods, including logistic regression artificial neural network, RF, Support Vector Machine, extreme gradient boosting, light boosting were employed for prediction. Model performance evaluated accuracy, precision, recall, F1‐score, area under the curve (AUC). Results The stacking model achieved highest performance, an accuracy of 95.42%, recall 93.42%, precision 98.85%, F1‐score 96.08%, AUC 0.979. SHapley Additive exPlanations analysis visual impairment, family history myopia, excessive screen time, insufficient outdoor Conclusion These findings demonstrate effectiveness predicting highlight potential early intervention strategies. By identifying high‐risk individuals, targeted awareness programs lifestyle modifications can help mitigate progression students.
