Non-specific Lipid Transfer proteins (nsLTPs) are relevant allergens of several pollens and plant foods. Sensitization to nsLTPs is not typical in our region. Still, it has become an increasingly common cause IgE-mediated food allergies food-induced anaphylaxis Northern Europe recent decades. No in-depth studies describe the prevalence sensitization molecular components Lithuania. This study aimed determine profile atopic patients at Immunology Allergy Department Kauno Klinikos nsLTPs, using allergen component analysis. Sixty Lithuanian adults with symptoms allergic rhinitis and/or asthma were included into study. Specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels measured two vitro techniques: extract Results showed that 25% subjects sensitized nsLTP-containing sources, mostly Zea m 14, Mal d 3, Vit v 1, Art 3. The median amount total IgE was higher nsLTP-sensitized than nsLTP-nonsensitized patients. Based on Cohen’s Kappa McNemar tests, results analysis tests do always agree, especially when we sources containing nsLTPs. Molecular could be first choice determining detailed who experienced unknown origin.

Purpose of review To evaluate the effect climate change on pollen allergenicity, lengthening season, and spread invasive species such as ragweed. assess evidence to determine whether these effects are impacting prevalence food syndrome (PFS). Recent findings There is good demonstrate that markers change, including rising temperatures some extent greenhouse gases, responsible for a rise in allergenicity an increase duration especially trees. These changes likely be linked seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR), children. Sensitization pollen, tree also risk factor development PFS. Thought mainly affect adults, recent suggests there PFS children, SAR. Summary Increasing SAR due could lead greater number children adults developing Although generally considered mild condition, severe reactions can occur might numerous plant triggers, which adversely dietary choice nutritional intake.

Background: Pollen exposure in early life is shown to be associated with allergy and asthma. DNA methylation (DNAm), an epigenetic marker, potentially reacts pollen. However, the role of at-birth DNAm between prenatal pollen grain (PPG) childhood asthma allergic rhinitis unknown. Methods: Data a birth cohort study on Isle Wight, UK, were analyzed (n = 236). Newborn was measured cord blood or spots Guthrie cards screened for potential association PPG using R package ttScreening. CpGs that passed screening further assessed such associations via linear regressions adjusting covariates included. Finally, at PPG-associated evaluated their logistic regressions, covariates. The impact cell heterogeneity findings assessed. Statistical significance set p < 0.05. Results: In total, 42 screening, 41 remaining statistically significant after types (p 0.05). High lower cg12318501 (ZNF99, β −0.029, 0.032) cg00929606 (ADM2, −0.023, 0.008), which subsequently decreased odds (OR 0.11, 95% CI 0.02–0.53, 0.006; OR 0.14, 0.02–1.00, 0.049). For rhinitis, cg15790214 (HCG11) play as mediator (β −0.027, ≤ 0.0001; 0.22, 0.07–0.72, 0.01). Conclusions: incidence mediated by birth.

Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS) is an allergic reaction that occurs upon contact of the mouth and throat with food, leading to symptoms primarily affecting oral mucosa. In patients rhinitis, OAS may develop due cross-reactivity between pollen allergens responsible for specific plant-derived foods. This particular type known as Pollen Food (PFAS). The difference in prevalence PFAS across different regions world attributed various factors, including environmental exposure dietary habits. Southern Europe’s temperate climate favors blooming many allergenic plants, making respiratory allergies significant public health concerns. There a regional variation Europe, contributing differences presence panallergens—such profilins, pathogenesis-related class 10 (PR-10) proteins lipid transfer (LTPs)—which mediate PFAS. order examine epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic approaches PFAS, focusing on their impact European adults, narrative review was performed. Data from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Albania, Greece, Türkiye were retrieved. main outcome this frequency varies studies, not only countries but also within same country, vegetation variability well methodological year study. However, despite these differences, emerges common issue underscoring need effective diagnosis management.
