Abstract Backgrounds The aim of this study was to assess the level knowledge operating room (OR) staff about surgical smoke and examine its negative effects on health. Methods A descriptive cross‐sectional design used. population consisted health care team working in OR a university state hospital. sample 113 participants who met inclusion criteria agreed participate study. Data were collected using data collection form based literature. P ‐value >0.05 considered statistically significant. Results mean age 36.10 ± 8.13 years. 61.9% had not received training smoke. It determined that 85% bothered by smoke, always experiencing discomfort from odour (39.9%), occasionally pain or burning throat (33.6%), rarely vision impairment (31.9%) due exposure Conclusions healthcare risks prevention measures is inadequate. Exposure has been linked adverse such as eye irritation, headaches, respiratory symptoms.

Electrocautery is a commonly used technique in surgical procedures, generating smoke that poses health risks to staff. This study investigates the comparative efficacy of normal masks versus N95 mitigating harmful effects electrocautery smoke. Through systematic review literature spanning two decades, we explore causes and exposure, including potential long-term inhalation effects. Our findings highlight significant disparities protection offered by different underscore importance adequate respiratory settings. In addition, examine factors influencing generation composition smoke, such as power settings used, type tissue being cauterized, duration procedure. Furthermore, discuss associated with exposure possibility conditions, cardiovascular effects, carcinogenicity. analysis also addresses implementing appropriate evacuation systems optimizing operating room ventilation minimize concentration particles environment. Overall, this comprehensive provides valuable insights into impact varying levels masks.

The translation of impedance (R), current (I), and voltage (V) into tissue effects the understanding settings electrosurgical units is not obvious if judged by many questions during live surgery. Below 200 V, heats until steam boiling stops current. Thus, slower heating, because less energy or a larger contact area, results in deeper coagulation. Above V duty cycle (per cent time electricity delivered) >50% (yellow pedal), sparks become electric arcs, heat causes explosion superficial cells, i.e. cutting. With higher voltages, cutting associated with coagulation, blended even voltages <10% preventing arching, only coagulation occurs (blue pedal; forced coagulation). Voltage being crucially important for effects, newer deliver constant limit output (Maximal Watts: W=I*V= joules/sec). Unfortunately, indicate combination cycles as force (pure blended) (soft, spray) It that surgeon understands whether control output, well electrical basics different programs used.
