This paper develops an outline for a hierarchically embedded architecture of artificial agent that models human translation processes based on principles active inference (AIF) and predictive processing (PP). AIF PP posit the mind constructs model environment which guides behavior by continually generating integrating predictions sensory input. The proposed consists three strata: sensorimotor layer, cognitive phenomenal layer. Each layer network states transitions interact different time scales. Following framework, are conditioned observations may originate from and/or while between actions implement plans to optimize goal-oriented behavior. aims at simulating variation in translational under various conditions facilitate investigating underlying mental mechanisms. It provides novel framework testing new hypotheses translating mind.

Abstract This article presents a framework for modeling the human mind during translation, based on empirical data. It argues that three interrelated layers of mental processing operate simultaneously which can be detected in behavioral data: routinized/automated sequences reflected fluent translation behavior; cognitive/reflective processes indicated by extended keystroke pauses; and affective/emotional states, manifest distinctive typing eye-tracking patterns. Drawing data from CRITT Translation Process Research Database (TPR-DB), demonstrates how temporal dynamics keystrokes gaze behavior linked to these underlying strata. The proposed embedded generative model is situated within broader theoretical contexts, including dual-process theories Robinson’s (2023) ideosomatic theory translation. In doing so, offers novel foundation advancing developments Cognitive Studies.

Abstract This article proposes a generative model of the human translating mind, grounded in empirical translation process data. It posits that three embedded processing layers — Affect and Emotion (A), Behavioral routines (B), Cognition (C) unfold simultaneously during production, traces mental processes are observable behavioral Specifically: (A) affective emotional states manifest characteristic typing gazing patterns; (B) automated reflected fluent, uninterrupted production; reflective, cognitive thought correlates with longer keystroke pauses. Drawing on data from CRITT Translation Process Research Database (TPR-DB), demonstrates how temporal structure gaze can be mapped onto ABC processes. further relates this to theoretical frameworks such as dual-process theories Robinson’s ( 1991 ; 2023 ) ideosomatic theory translation, opening new horizons for Cognitive Interpretation Studies firmly anchored evidence.
