Methamphetamine (METH) is a highly addictive drug abused by millions of users worldwide, thus becoming global health concern with limited management options. The inefficiency existing treatment methods has driven research into understanding the mechanisms underlying METH-induced disorders and finding effective treatments. This study aims to understand complex interactions gastrointestinal-immune-nervous systems following an acute METH dose administration as one potential molecular concentrating on impact abuse gut permeability. Findings showed decreased expression tight junction proteins ZO-1 EpCAm in intestinal tissue presence FABP-1 sera treated mice suggests wall disruption. increased CD45+ immune cells further confirms inflammation/disruption. In brain, inflammatory markers Ccl2, Cxcl1, IL-1β, TMEM119, albumin were higher compared shams, suggesting blood-brain barrier spleen, cellular gene changes are also noted. addition, anxious behavior dark light, open field, elevated maze tests sham controls. findings inflammation anxiety may provide opportunities develop treatments for addiction future.

Abstract For decades, texts on methods in animal behavior research have stressed the need for observers of to work minimize potential unconscious biases their coding data. Two major ways minimizing these are carry out data blind key comparisons being made study and high inter‐observer reliability. Over 10 years ago, Burghardt et al. (2012, Ethology , 118, 511) reviewed five journals field coded randomly selected articles from decadal volumes (1970 2010). That earlier article found poor rates reporting two common biases. Here, we carried similar 2020 those same journals. We that increased all – some substantially. However, still lag behind journal Infancy which publishes human infant development relies many behavioral observation used by researchers. Given calls transparency reproducibility different fields scientific study, argue researchers, reviewers, editors can do better at making sure actively conducting observer

Abstract Cyanobacteria bloom and the secondary metabolites released by microorganism are extremely harmful to aquatic animals, yet study on their adverse effects in zoobenthos is rare. Corbicula fluminea widely distributed freshwater environment with algal blooms. It a typical filter feeding that may be affected of cyanobacteria due its high filtering rate. In this study, C. was exposed Microcystis aeruginosa exudates (MaE) for 96 h, which obtained from 5 × 10 cells/mL 2.5 6 exponential stage M. culture solution represented cell density needs environmental risk precaution control emergent control, respectively. The responses critical organs MaE were analyzed evaluated based histopathological sections, antitoxicity biomarkers, organ function biomarkers. results showed all underwent structural disorders, vacuolization, apoptosis, necrosis, damage levels increased as concentration increased. detoxification antioxidant defense systems biomarkers each response exposure differently level reaction improved when siphon rate acetylcholinesterase activity filtration decreased significantly Increased glutathione S-transferase amylase digestive gland indicate it major . vitellogenin enlarged oocytes gonad have an estrogenic effect This demonstrates threat benthic bivalves inducing oxidative stress, inhibiting system, disturbing digestion system reproduction potential
