Coping with cognitive decline in older adults with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia: a scoping review

This
scoping
review
aims
to
map
out
the
coping
strategies
among
Persons
with
Mild
Cognitive
Impairment
(PwMCI)
and
Dementia
(PwMD),
identifying
facilitators
barriers
use
of
strategies.
We
conducted
a
systematic
search
peer-reviewed
studies
in
PubMed,
CINAHL,
EMBASE,
PsycINFO.
Under
guidance
Coping
Circumflex
Model,
we
identified
then
thematic
synthesis.
Our
17
revealed
13
themes
for
PwMCI
PwMD,
categorized
into
problem-solving,
positive
emotional,
problem
avoidance,
negative
emotional
The
included
utilization
reminders,
active
engagement
daily
tasks,
acceptance,
concealing
memory
problems.
encompassed
social
interactions,
assistance
from
informal
care
partners,
support
professionals,
influence
emotion.
practical
types
context
on
their
development,
highlighting
need
personalized
These
insights
are
crucial
developing
tailored
interventions
improve
quality
life

ABSTRACT
Background
It

extremely

thinking
and
breathlessness
catastrophizing
among
elderly
COPD
patients.
