This research presents a green approach to synthesizing zirconium oxide (ZrO2) nanoparticles using an Asphodelus fistulosus plant extract as reducing and stabilizing agent. The synthesized ZrO2 were characterized various advanced techniques. XRD pattern provides different forms of ZrO2, like tetragonal cubic forms, the results confirmed successful formation crystalline with definite morphology. XPS data exhibit that bioactive chemicals present in extract, including polyphenols, flavonoids, sugars, perform functions capping agents. Additionally, CR dye molecules may create hydrogen bonds these surface moieties, which are approved by FTIR. These interactions assist aligning catalytically active regions on surfaces interact photogenerated species. catalytic activity was evaluated for degradation Congo red under ultraviolet irradiation. exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity, degrading significant amount within short period. Various parameters investigated optimize photodegradation process, irradiation time, catalyst dosage, pH, initial concentration. optimal conditions determined be pH 7, loading 20 mg/L, time 75 min, resulting remarkable ≈92% efficiency. synthesis method offers sustainable eco-friendly alternative conventional chemical methods producing nanoparticles, have potential applications environmental remediation.
