Abstract This paper presents a two‐stage model for planning renewable energy portfolio by balancing economic, social and environmental sustainability goals. The first stage addresses multi‐objective problem where conflictive impacts generated the portfolios should be optimised according to corresponding or profile. A parametric goal programming with fuzzy hierarchy model, an alternative weighted lexicographic models, is built. second stage, comprising three steps, identifies best mix each First, preferential weights are determined economically flexibly decision‐maker (DM) using extended best‐worst method. Then, valuation process applied portfolio's deviation vectors, transformed vectors ranked technique order preference similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) Applied Spain, results reveal significant conflict in profile, especially regarding total employment, which shows greatest disagreement other impacts. In contrast, economic profiles exhibit low divergence among their key work suggests that policymaking requires balanced approach and, sometimes, acceptance of unavoidable trade‐offs between objectives. Our proposal guides search strong DM intervention.
