For an extensive and sustainable deployment of technological ecosystems such as the Internet Things, it is a must to leverage free energy available in environment power autonomous sensors. Among different alternatives, thermal harvesters based on thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are attractive solution for those scenarios which gradient temperature present. In context, this article reviews operating principle TEGs then applications proposed literature last years. These subclassified into five categories: domestic, industrial, natural heat, wearable, others. each category, comprehensive comparison carried out, including thermal, mechanical, electrical information case. Finally, identification challenges opportunities research field applied low-power sensor nodes exposed.
