Local environmental spending spillover effects on green innovation: evidence from cities in China DOI

As the crucial force in achieving harmonious development of economy and environment, green innovation has been extensively valued. Based on data from Chinese prefecture-level cities 2007–2019, this research investigates influence environmental spending innovation, further examining moderating effect urban (R&D) environment. Employing spatial econometric model, we discover that local significantly boosts native positively affecting nearby cities. Meanwhile, spending's for different city clusters presents heterogeneous characteristics. Additionally, R&D environment moderates relationship between innovation. With improved incentive strengthens.
