Water constitutes an indispensable resource crucial for the sustenance of humanity, as it plays integral role in various sectors such agriculture, industrial processes, and domestic consumption. Even though water covers 71% global land surface, governments have been grappling with challenge ensuring provision safe use. A contributing factor to this situation is persistent contamination available sources rendering them unfit human common contaminant, pesticides are not frequently tested despite their serious effects on biodiversity. Pesticide determination quality assessment a challenging task because procedures involved extraction detection complex. This reduces popularity many monitoring campaigns harmful effects. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a notorious class of porous materials that gained significant attention in recent years due to their unique structural and rich functional properties. Porphyrin-based MOFs, PMOFs, have been studied extensively for potential applications areas such as energy storage, capture, delivery, catalysis, sensing. Particularly, this work first briefly discusses the different types porphyrin-based electronic structures, how they interact with light. Furthermore, article describes wealth photophysical events occurring MOFs leading properties sustainable upon visible-light irradiation. These include efficient light harvesting, singlet triplet emissions aggregation induced emissions, thermally activated delayed fluorescence, nonlinear optical properties, multi-photon absorption, up conversion, singlet-singlet triplet-triplet excited state annihilation, time-resolved processes, ultrafast electron transfers, exciton migration, photosensitization, photo-conductivity, photo-induced charge separation, optoelectronics, dye sensitized bulk heterojunction solar cells.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are novel inorganic-organic hybridized crystals with a wide range of applications. In the last twenty years, fluorescence sensing based on MOFs has attracted much attention. can exhibit luminescence from metal nodes, ligands or introduced guests, which provides an excellent response in sensing. However, single-signal emitting susceptible to interference concentration, environment, and excitation intensity, resulting poor accuracy. To overcome shortcomings, dual-emission MOF-based ratiometric sensors have been proposed rapidly developed. this review, we first introduce mechanisms, synthetic methods, detection mechanisms MOFs, highlight strategies for constructing classify them into three categories: intrinsic single-emission luminescent non-emission other materials. Then, summarize recent advances various analytical industries. Finally, discuss current challenges prospects future development these sensors.
