We introduce an enhanced light-harvesting MoS2-based nanocomposite exhibiting improved solar light induced photocurrent generation, both in solution and solid phases. The MoS2-CdS composite was synthesized via easy to achieve, cost effective, two-step process for the photocatalytic potassium dichromate [Cr(VI)] reduction generation thin-film optoelectronic devices. Incorporating 10 wt% MoS2 into increased degradation efficiency of CdS from 43.9 91.9%. Furthermore, demonstrated a 2.88-fold increase rate constant 2.15% enhancement apparent quantum yield compared controlled CdS. Additionally, electrical power consumption per order decrease Cr(VI) reduced 25.74 kWh m−3 9 aimed at composite, indicating optimal synergy between counterparts its composite. resulting device with exhibited robust nonlinear I–V characteristics under illumination, attributed unique electronic properties heterojunction, influencing carrier transport band alignment interface trapping effects. Moreover, linearly illumination intensity, dynamic photo response studies revealed rapid illumination. key parameters CdS, including photosensitivity, photoresponsivity, detectivity, were by factors 5.09, 3.33, 12.3, respectively, upon formation MoS2.
