In the pursuit of sustainable and clean energy sources, development efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction has gained significant attention. this work, we synthesized single-atom Fe-doped 1T MoS2 (sFe-1T/MoS2) nanosheets using a one-step hydrothermal method, harnessing synergistic effects iron-intercalation to enhance production through an abundance active sites. Notably, 10 at. % sFe-1T/MoS2 exhibited excellent performance with low onset potential 190 mV Tafel slope 55 mV/dec in acidic solution. High was also achieved alkaline solutions. Additionally, these catalysts demonstrated efficiency seawater splitting. This work not only offers cost-effective scalable method producing high-quality but sets precedent application technology across various catalytic systems, marking advancement research.

Vertical van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures have shown potential for gas sensing owing to their remarkable sensitivity. However, the optimization process achieving best performance is complicated by heterostructure's reliance on both physical and electrical characteristics. This study employs density functional theory (DFT) analyse structural electronic parameters of a MoTe2/InN vdW heterostructure. The findings this indicate that heterostructure has type-II band alignment with higher adsorption energy towards NH3, NO2, SO2 than individual monolayers. In specific, well suited NO2 detection but limitations in reliably detecting NH3 due longer recovery times. We find significant hybridization between adsorbate interacting surfaces' orbitals notable presence molecular proximity Fermi level. Additionally, dielectric work function modulations offer viable means develop optical-based sensors can selectively detect NO2. Our research provides valuable insights into design high-performance sensors.
