Pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) is one of the main native fish species for aquaculture in South America. Genomic selection essential developing desirable traits pacu production, but genotyping at high densities SNP markers can be costly producers. Cost-effective strategies involving genotype imputation facilitate broader adoption genomic this species. Then, objective study was to evaluate accuracies by adopting different (9 K, 7 5 2 1 and 0.5 K) from commercial Axiom® 30 K SerraSNP array pacu. When performed between 9 average ranged 0.97 (SD 0.06) 0.90 0.12) level 0.98 0.04) 0.92 when considering genotyped individuals. For density low accuracy values were recorded, less than 40 % SNPs showed (R2 ≥ 0.80). Additionally, a large proportion variable observed extremities chromosomes assessed. Based on 15,166 (91.1 %) imputed with accuracy, developed validated using Agriseq® tGBS platform. The results presented serve as basis selecting aimed reducing costs associated implementing genetic improvement programs
