Bisphenol A (BPA) and its analogs, such as bisphenol F (BPF), AF (BPAF), B (BPB), are often simultaneously detected in environmental human specimens. Thus, assessing the toxicity of (BP) mixtures is more relevant than that each BP type. Here, we found BPs, individually or a mixture, concentration-dependently additively increased mortality zebrafish embryos (ZFEs) at 96 h post fertilization (hpf) induced bradycardia (i.e., reduced heart rate) 48 hpf, indicating their cardiotoxic potency. BPAF was most potent, followed by BPB, BPA, BPF. We then explored mechanism underlying BP-induced ZFEs. Although BPs mRNA expression estrogen-responsive gene, treatment with estrogen receptor inhibitor ICI 182780 did not prevent bradycardia. Because they change cardiomyocyte counts development-related gene expression, might affect development. By contrast, impair calcium homeostasis during cardiac contraction relaxation through downregulation mRNAs for pore-forming subunit L-type Ca2+ channel (LTCC; cacna1c) sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase (SERCA; atp2a2a). SERCA activity significantly. also potentiated cardiotoxicity LTCC blocker nisoldipine, conceivably inhibiting activity. In conclusion, ZFEs, possibly impeding relaxation. blockers.

Abstract Based on the 87 original publications only from quartiles 1 and 2 of Journal Citation Report (JCR) collected by major academic databases (Science Direct, Web Science, PubMed, Wiley) in 2022, frontier toxicology studies zebrafish model is summarized. Herewith, a total six aspects covered such as developmental, neurological, cardiovascular, hepatic, reproductive, immunizing toxicities. The tested samples involve chemicals, drugs, new environmental pollutants, nanomaterials, its derivatives, along with those related mechanisms. This report may provide focus benefit to researchers engaging for environment, medicine, food, other fields.
