Abstract Zebrafish ( Danio rerio ) have emerged as an influential model for studying human epithelial pathology, particularly because of their genetic similarity to humans and unique physiological traits. This review explores the structural functional homology between zebrafish tissues in organs, such gastrointestinal system, liver, kidneys. possess significant cellular with mammals, which facilitates investigation various diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver polycystic kidney disease. The advantages using a organism include rapid external development, ease manipulation, advanced imaging capabilities, allowing real-time observation disease processes. However, limitations exist, concerning lack organs potential incomplete phenocopy conditions. Despite these challenges, ongoing research adult promises enhance our understanding mechanisms regenerative By revealing similarities differences cell function pathways, this highlights value translational advancing knowledge health developing targeted therapies.

Thyroid dysfunction may affect the intestinal microbiota through short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in marine fish. This study investigated effects of triiodothyronine (T3, 20 ng/g) and thyroxine (T4, ng/g), propylthiouracil (PTU, 5000 on growth performance, SCFA profiles, composition little yellow croakers Larimichthys polyactis. The results showed that dietary thyroid-active agent supplementation significantly decreased weight gain, specific ratio. Moreover, T3, T4, PTU induced states hyperthyroidism hypothyroidism, respectively, leading to differential alterations profiles. Specifically, only T4 increased diversity microbiota. Our findings suggest genera Vibrio Sediminibacterium play key roles multiple metabolic pathways within host intestine. Correlation analyses further indicated acetic acid isobutyric were characteristic metabolites involved alteration genus abundance. These provide a foundation for investigation into thyroid-disrupting activities growth,

Zinc contamination in aquatic environments has become a growing concern due to its potential bioaccumulate and induce neurotoxic effects organisms. As an essential trace element, zinc plays crucial role various physiological processes, but excessive exposure can disrupt the gut–brain axis, leading cognitive behavioral impairments. Recent studies have suggested that probiotics may offer protective against environmental neurotoxins by modulating gut microbiota associated neurological functions. The zebrafish (Danio rerio) emerged as valuable model organism for studying biological mechanisms underlying neurotoxicity therapeutic interventions. This study aimed assess of on impairments induced chloride (ZnCl2) zebrafish. Specifically, were exposed ZnCl2 at concentrations 0.5 mg/L 1.0 96 h, followed 7-day post-exposure period (Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactobacillus rhamnosus). these is already known neuromotor deficits resembling Alzheimer’s disease-like symptoms models, making it suitable evaluating neuroprotective probiotics. Behavioral assessments including sociability tests along with short- long-term memory evaluations conducted using EthoVision XT 16 software. Memory demonstrated impaired functions, while probiotic treatment did not significantly ameliorate deficits. In social behavior test, resulted marked decrease sociability, whereas significant changes. However, administration following intoxication exhibited anxiolytic effect These findings suggest exhibit partial neurobehavioral benefits chloride-induced toxicity, particularly mitigating anxiety-like behaviors rather than Further investigations are needed elucidate precise which interact axis context heavy metal neurotoxicity.
