The development of comprehensive soil conservation strategies, based on the erosion risk, is one critical components sustainable river basin management, especially in tropical mountainous regions. present study computes spatially distributed longtime average annual loss (A) and sediment yield (SY) prioritizes risk a mountain basin. Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) delivery model (SEDD) models were coupled GIS environment to predict intra-basin variability A SY Karimpuzha River Basin (KRB) southern Western Ghats (in Kerala, India). results indicate that, an basis, 9.3 t has been eroded per hectare year, whereas 6.3 ha-1 y-1 (i.e., approximately two-thirds gross erosion). majority (74.2%) area low ≤ 5.0 y-1), transport processes are major concern some areas (ca. km2). imply significance land use/ cover, rainfall, topography controlling demonstrates advantages delineation areas, hydrologic response units (HRUs) basin, implement appropriate management options for resources.

The eco-physical health assessment of watersheds is crucial for sustainable water resource management and ecosystem services. This study quantifies the Talar watershed in Iran using geometric mean method (GMM), game-theoretic algorithm (GTA), machine learning algorithms including Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Simple Linear Regression (SLR), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) distributed semi-distributed monitoring. results show that RF performed better than other models, as indicated by MAE, MSE, RMSE, AUC statistics with values 0.032, 0.003, 0.058, 0.940, respectively. index prioritization different approaches showed pattern changes positively from upstream to downstream. Based on GMM, it can be said sub-watersheds Int6 Int5 are healthiest studied watershed, 0.93 0.90, GTA approach, also Int6, Int5, Int01 ones. In case algorithm, average pixels each sub-watershed were recognized 0.91 0.88, consistently emerged across all methods, attributed high TWI NDVI low slope, DEM, erosion, CN values. general, catchment fully followed factors affecting catchment's spatial patterns change this consistent physiographic hydroclimatic conditions three approaches. study's implications underline importance multi-criteria multi-algorithm accurately assessing managing development.

The Upper Cikeruh Sub-watershed, part of the Citarum Basin and designated as one Indonesia’s 15 Super Priority Watersheds, is facing severe degradation due to land use changes deforestation, particularly in upstream areas. This study assesses criticality suitability for agroforestry guide sustainable management practices. A semi-quantitative approach was used evaluate through a scoring method, while qualitative match table analysis determined specific crops. Fieldwork conducted areas covering administrative Bandung Sumedang. results showed that most critical conditions, with productivity identified limiting factor, scores low 30. mapping units (LMUs A, C, D, E, F, N) were marginally suitable (S3) crops such legumes, upland rice, corn, soybeans, chilies, main constraints being slope steepness soil pH. highlights urgent need implement practices restoration strategy degraded landscapes. findings provide actionable recommendations improve promoting watershed

Morphometric analysis of a drainage basin along with its stream network is indispensable for analysing river basin's prevailing geomorphology, geo-hydrology, and erosional susceptibility. In this study, an enhanced morphometric evaluation method using Google Earth Engine (GEE) Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to assess prioritize 12 sub-basins the Godavari River (GRB), India, based on their The findings susceptibility were validated Sediment Yield (SY) model. Our highlight that Indravati, Pranhita, Manjira, i.e. 42.42% (132707.4 km2) entire GRB are at high risk susceptibility, requiring immediate implementation soil conservation measures. also 52.71% in mature stage geological evolution, wherein landform-building processes still ongoing. Overall, has relatively low density dendritic patterns, permeable soils, elongated Moreover, results SY model exhibited 90% agreement analysis. This study presents efficient framework can assist policymakers demarcation priority zones

Soil erosion is one of the most crucial land degradation problems and considered critical environmental hazard worldwide. The present study uses remote sensing data integrated with geographical information system (GIS) technique revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE) model for assessing annual average Digaru watershed India 1999 2020. estimated mean gross yearly from entire was 102716 t yr-1 in 178931.6 overall rate increased significantly between 2020, rising 4.73 t—ha-1yr-1 to 8.43 t—ha-1yr-1. sub-watersheds are prioritized as high (≥ 40 ha−1yr−1), moderate (20–40 low (<20 ha−1yr−1) based on spatial distribution erosion. Seven have been grouped under priority, followed by seven priority priority. This demands instant attention water conservation efforts highly eroded areas.

Abstract This study evaluates the applicability of multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods, including SAW, VIKOR, TOPSIS, and Condorcet algorithm based on game theory machine learning algorithms (MLAs) K-nearest neighbor, Naïve Bayes, Random Forest (RF), simple linear regression support vector in spatial mapping sediment formation potential Talar watershed, Iran. In first approach, MCDM was used, Condorcet’s theory. To this end, a decision matrix for created factors affecting potential. next step, various MLAs were used to construct distribution map Finally, constructed very low high classes. The summary results prioritizing sub-basins using multi-criteria methods showed that sub-basin SW12 had highest methods. modeling different values error statistics, RF with MAE = 0.032, MSE 0.024, RMSE 0.155, AUC 0.930 selected as most optimal algorithm. On other side, correlation Taylor diagram (Figs. 10 11) also slope factor value 0.84. Also, LS coefficient 0.65 after model modeling. shows amount increases from downstream upstream side watershed.
