The intention of this study was to profile the cohort from Greek Registry for prevalence Familial Hypercholesterolemia (GRegistry-FH) by estimating coronary artery disease (CAD), myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, dyslipidemia, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), pre-DM, smoking, abnormal thyroid function (ATF), and lipid values. GRegistry-FH is a prospective involving door-to-door interviews conducted trained interviewers. Overall, 7704 individuals aged ≥18 years, randomly selected all regions Greece, participated. atherosclerotic cardiovascular (ASCVD) 13.9% (CAD 6%, MI 3.2%, stroke 4.7%). Treated hypercholesterolemia present in 20.1%, hypertension 24%, DM 11.3% (25.5% had pre-DM). smoking 37.9% (29% current) ATF 13.1% (hypothyroidism 11.3%). A family history ASCVD reported 60.5% 32.2%, 28.3%). mean (SD) values mg/dL were as follows: total cholesterol 201.8 (41.5), low-density lipoprotein 126.3 (30.1), high-density 51.9 (12.5), triglycerides 135.9 (64.7). highlights significant its risk factors among adults, indicating pressing need early detection management strategies mitigate burden. This nationwide registry serves crucial tool guiding public health policies personalized preventive measures (NCT03140605).

Vascular aging, marked by alterations in the structure and function of blood vessels, including heightened arterial stiffness impaired endothelial function, is linked to a higher likelihood developing cardiovascular age-associated pathological conditions. Oxidative stress inflammation are key stimulation factors vascular aging. Engaging healthy dietary habits could enhance functioning vessels. The aim this study was conduct literature review evidence regarding relationship between food regimens, nutraceuticals, supplements health. A search electronic databases, PubMed, Scopus, Web Science Core Collection, performed. Experimental observational studies evaluating association groups, supplements, and/or were deemed eligible for narrative review. Based on current body included studies, may not demonstrate superiority over placebos enhancing markers To obtain more reliable effectiveness interventions health, additional RCTs with larger sample sizes, extended follow-up periods, multi-center participation necessary. Enhancing credibility these requires better control variables precise measurement health markers.

Background/Objectives: Lifestyle interventions such as dietary changes have been proposed to control the cardiometabolic risk factors and thus prevent cardiovascular (CV) disease (CVD). We performed an umbrella review investigate whether different patterns affect CV in individuals with at least one factor (hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome) but not established CVD. Methods: systematically searched PubMed Scopus databases (up August 2024) for systematic reviews meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Articles should be written English refer a specific pattern (such Mediterranean diet, etc.). The population studied referred adults factor. Results: From 4512 records identified, we finally included 25 total 329 associations. Strong evidence benefit was found LCD reductions BW [MD: −4.79 (95% CI −5.85, −3.72) kg, p ≤ 0.001], SBP −6.38 −7.84, −4.93) mmHg, TG [WMD: −5.81 −7.96, −3.66) mg/dL, fasting plasma insulin −15.35 −19.58, −11.12) pmol/L, well low-GI diet reduction [SMD: −0.66 −0.90, −0.43) 0.001]. Conclusions: Across many patterns, showed strong or highly suggestive on SBP, reduction, lipid profile improvement. Secondarily, low-GI, DASH, Portfolio Nordic diets suggested beneficial effects controlling risk.

People with HIV (PWH) have an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease compared to those without HIV. This study aimed investigate the relative serum expression microRNAs (miRNAs) associated arterial stiffness, a significant marker disease. A total 36 male PWH and people HIV, matched for age, body mass index, pack years, dyslipidemia, were included in study. Participants history hypertension, diabetes mellitus, disease, cancer, or intravenous drug use excluded. Markers including carotid–femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) augmentation index adjusted 75 beats per minute (AIx@75), measured via applanation tonometry. We analyzed 11 circulating miRNAs using real-time PCR: let-7b-5p, miR-19b-3p, miR-21-5p, miR-29a-3p, miR-126-3p, miR-130a-3p, miR-145-5p, miR-181b-5p, miR-221-3p, miR-222-3p, miR-223-3p. cfPWV was significantly higher (9.3 vs. 8.6 m/s, p = 0.019), while AIx@75, peripheral, aortic blood pressures did not differ among groups. The controls let-7b-5p (fold change: 5.24, 0.027), miR-21-5p 3.41, < 0.001), miR-126-3p 1.23, miR-222-3p 3.31, 0.002). Conversely, miR-19b-3p lower 0.61, 0.049). Among HIV-related factors, nadir CD4+T-cell count <200 cells/mm3 independently (β 0.344, 0.049), current non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) treatment 0.389, 0.010). No associations found between duration infection ART miRNA expression. highlights distinct profile which may contribute increased stiffness.
