Extreme climate events are occurring frequently under global warming. Previous studies primarily focused on isolated extreme events, whereas research the synergistic changes between cold (EC) and warm (EW) remains limited. This study conducted trend, correlation, dispersion analyses EC EW, as well their changes, in Sanjiang Plain from 1960 to 2019, using inverse distance weighting, statistical methods, Mann–Kendall test. The results indicated that cold-to-warm (C2W) warm-to-cold (W2C) were significantly positively correlated with elevation, correlation coefficients (r) of 0.76 0.84, respectively. This study delves into the complex relationship between teleconnection patterns and meteorological drought in Northwest China, highlighting crucial influence of global circulation indices on regional dynamics. By analyzing precipitation temperature data from 1962 to 2022 using CN05.1 datasets incorporating various indices, employs Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) delineate conditions. Utilizing Modified Mann-Kendall test segmented models for trend change point detection, along with cross wavelet transforms (XWT) coherence (WTC) analysis examine impact 15 uncovers significant spatial temporal climatic variations.
