Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, the causative agent of disease 2019 (COVID-19), causes post-acute infection in a surprisingly large number cases worldwide. This condition, also known as long COVID or sequelae COVID-19, is characterized by extremely complex symptoms and pathology. There growing consensus that this condition consequence virus-induced immune activation inflammatory cascade, with its prolonged duration caused persistent virus reservoir.

Objective The long-lasting persistence of autoantibodies stands as one the hypotheses explaining multisystemic manifestations seen in individuals with post-COVID-19 condition. current review offers restricted insights into plasma/serum people post-COVID symptoms. Methods PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, and Web Science databases, well on medRxiv bioRxiv preprint servers were searched up to January 5 th , 2024. Papers investigating presence samples symptoms included. Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used assess methodological quality. Results From 162 identified records, five articles met all inclusion criteria; four studies included infected controls no whereas non-infected (410 COVID-19 survivors symptoms, 223 266 healthy controls). Four concluded that had a potential (but small) role condition study not associated. Quality assessment showed high Conclusion Although evidence suggests persistent can be associated clinical relevance their seems modest at this stage. Current results highlight further research clarify development guiding tailored diagnostic treatment approaches enhance patient outcomes. Systematic registration https://osf.io/vqz28 .

Autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG) is a disease of failure caused by ganglionic acetylcholine receptor (gAChR) autoantibodies. Although the detection autoantibodies important for distinguishing from other neuropathies that present with dysfunction, factors are accurate diagnosis. Here, we provide comprehensive review clinical features AAG, highlighting differences in course, presentation, and laboratory findings presenting symptoms. The first step diagnosing AAG careful history taking, which should reveal whether mode onset acute or chronic, followed an examination time course progression, including presentation extra-autonomic neuropathy be differentiated when patient presents dysfunction. Immune-mediated neuropathies, such as sensory neuropathy, sometimes difficult to differentiate, therefore, well understood. Other non-neuropathic conditions, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, chronic fatigue long COVID, also symptoms similar those AAG. often challenging, efforts made differentiate among candidates.

Abstract Long coronavirus disease (COVID) is defined as the continuation or development of new symptoms three months after severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, and that last for at least two months, with no other explanation their cause. This includes various clinical manifestations affect multiple organ systems, such complications in respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal systems. The most commonly reported include fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, dyspnea, chest pain; however, prevalence severity these vary greatly among individuals. underlying mechanisms long COVID are complex multifaceted, encompassing viral persistence, immune system mitochondrial abnormalities, endothelial impairment, alterations microbiome. Further, has imposed a significant burden on individuals, healthcare economy by impairing an individual’s quality life functional capacity, thereby increasing costs demand care rehabilitation services. review summarizes definition, phenotypes, mechanisms, current treatment advancements highlights specific research directions future investigation.

The knowledge of COVID-19 impact on the human body has increased rapidly. Although many people recover from COVID-19, some continue to experience persistent symptoms that have been identified as Long COVID. This condition can a severe quality life, and it remains significant concern for medical professionals researchers. One key components SARS-CoV-2 virus enables enter cells is spike (S) protein. Recent studies revealed complex network interactions between G proteins, protein, Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) may be responsible, at least in part, long also affect brain, leading neurological such confusion, memory loss, fatigue. Increasing evidence suggests not just respiratory illness since likely could influence signal transduction pathways G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR), among others, either directly or indirectly, affecting neural functions. These with protein RAS, alongside are require deep research understand their implications manifestation fully. While recent shed light angiotensin system, this article explores these interconnected manifestations. present review summarises current different molecular mechanisms COVID pathophysiology help identify possible targets new strategies diagnosis treatment.

Long COVID is an often-debilitating condition with severe, multisystem symptoms that can persist for weeks or months and increase the risk of various diseases. Currently, there a lack diagnostic tools in clinical practice. Therefore, this study utilizes plasma proteomics metabolomics technologies to understand molecular profile pathophysiological mechanisms COVID, providing evidence development potential biomarkers. This included three age- gender-matched cohorts: healthy controls ( n = 18), COVID-19 recovered patients 17), 15). The results revealed significant differences proteins between patients, dysregulation mainly focused on pathways such as coagulation, platelets, complement cascade reactions, GPCR cell signal transduction, substance transport, which participate regulating immune responses, inflammation, tissue vascular repair. Metabolomics showed have similar metabolic disorders, involving lipid metabolites fatty acid metabolism, glycerophospholipids, sphingolipid arachidonic metabolism processes. In summary, our indicate protein abnormalities leading coagulation dysfunction, impaired energy chronic dysregulation, are more pronounced than patients.
