Previous studies have suggested that choroid plexus (ChP) enlargement occurs in individuals with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders (SSD) and is associated peripheral inflammation. However, it unclear whether such an delineates a biologically defined subgroup of SSD. Moreover, remains elusive how ChP linked to brain regions inflammation A cross-sectional cohort 132 SSD 107 age-matched healthy controls (HC) underwent cerebral magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) clinical phenotyping investigate the regions. case-control comparison volumes was conducted, structural variance analyzed by employing variability ratio (VR). K-means clustering analysis used identify subgroups distinct patterns ventricular system, clusters were compared terms demographic, clinical, immunological measures. The relationship between regions, previously inflammation, investigated. We did not find significant HC but detected increased VR lateral ventricle volumes. Based on these we identified 3 differences cognitive measures possibly inflammatory markers. Larger volume higher hippocampus, putamen, thalamus HC. This study suggests variability, mean volume, SSD,

The blood-brain barrier, essential for protecting the central nervous system, also restricts drug delivery to this region. Thus, delivering drugs across barrier is an active research area in immunology, oncology, and neurology; moreover, novel methods are urgently needed expand therapeutic options system pathologies. While previous strategies have focused on small molecules that modulate permeability or penetrate there increased focus biomedical devices—external implanted—for improving delivery. Here, we review device-assisted blood–brain emphasizing its application glioblastoma, aggressively malignant primary brain cancer which plays a role. We examine features emerging models studying crossing barrier. conclude by presenting monitor paradigms combined cross-BBB Delivering important medical treatments neurology. This Review discusses use of implanted external devices treatment type cancer.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is characterized by acute neurological dysfunction, also one of the most widely recognized environmental risk factors for various and psychiatric disorders. However, role TBI in perturbation mechanisms underlying these disorders remain unknown. We evaluated transcriptional changes cells frontal cortex after exploiting single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq). adopted gene expression omnibus scRNA-Seq to identify mediation secretogranin II (SCG2) TBI-induced schizophrenia. Astrocytes are a principal source SCG2 TBI. Our analysis indicated that SCG2-triggered disruption blood-brain barrier (BBB) via CypA-MMP-9 signaling pathway. Furthermore, astrocytic knockout reduced BBB damage, mitigated inflammation, inhibited schizophrenia In conclusion, we identified SCG2-CypA-MMP-9 pathway reactive astrocytes as key switch protection provided novel therapeutic avenue treating
