Abstract Parental feedback affects children in multiple ways. However, little is known about how children, family, and types affect parental neural mechanisms. The current study used functional near-infrared spectroscopy-based hyperscanning to observe 47 mother–daughter pairs’s (mean age of mothers: 35.95 ± 3.99 yr old; mean daughters: 6.97 0.75 old) brain synchronization a jigsaw game under various conditions. Between negative praise conditions, supramarginal gyrus, left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, right inferior frontal primary somatic (S1) differed. When criticized, conformity family-communication-patterned families had much worse S1, Wernicke’s region than conversational families. Resilient better mother–child gyrus synchronicity feedback. This supports the importance studying children’s neurological development nurturing environments assess their psychological development.

The field of developmental cognitive neuroscience is advancing rapidly, with large-scale, population-wide, longitudinal studies emerging as a key means unraveling the complexity developing brain and processes in children. While numerous neuroscientific techniques like functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), magnetoencephalography (MEG), transcranial stimulation (TMS) have proved advantageous such investigations, this perspective proposes renewed focus on electroencephalography (EEG), leveraging underexplored possibilities EEG. In addition to its temporal precision, low costs, ease application, EEG distinguishes itself ability capture neural activity linked social interactions increasingly ecologically valid settings. Specifically, can be measured during lab, hyperscanning used study two (or more) people simultaneously, mobile measure real-life This paper summarizes research these three areas, making persuasive argument for inclusion into toolkit neuroscientists.

Humans are highly social, typically without this ability requiring noticeable efforts. Yet, such social fluency poses challenges both for the human brain to compute and scientists study. Parent-adolescent emotion transmission is crucial for adolescents' psychological development. Parental negative emotions could impair parent-adolescent interaction and relationships. Brief mindfulness practices (BMPs) are effective improving emotional regulation reducing emotions. However, few studies explored the effects of BMP on transmission. This study used hyperscanning technique to examine differences in change states, cooperative performance, interbrain synchrony (IBS) between group (20 dyads) control rest (CR) under induced parental cooperation tasks. Results showed (1) decreases emotions, hostility, state anxiety after BMP, but only decreased CR rest; (2) an increase success rate no (3) IBS delta theta bands feedback increases failure rest. These findings suggest that may mitigate adolescents promote their focused attitude toward cooperation.

Abstract Listening engagement plays a crucial role in effective communication and knowledge transfer, reflecting state of deep absorption an auditory stimulus. The available behavioral assessments listening are limited capturing its multidimensional nature. Measuring objectively using brain body signals is compelling alternative. In particular, interpersonal synchronization—observed through synchronized physiological responses among listeners—may offer promising objective measure. this study, we examined synchronization activity, heart rate, electrodermal activity between participants while they listened to engaging non-engaging stories. Subjective ratings were collected as ground truth reference. Results showed higher across all modalities when stories compared ones, with significant correlations measures subjective engagement. These results confirm that may be reliable, marker We anticipate these will provide powerful framework for future research relevant domains, including education, audiology, science, enable impactful real-world applications, such automatically tracking audience entertainment, broader societal contexts. Significance Statement the first direct empirical evidence serves robust reliable Using novel experimental paradigm ecologically valid stimuli, demonstrate heightened leads increased neural listeners, disengagement reduces it. This measure significantly correlates established assessments, validating relevance reliability. Our innovative approach offers domains (education, audiology science) enables automatic domains.

Mindfulness is considered to benefit social behavior and interpersonal communication. However, the underlying neural mechanism has not been fully examined. This study aimed explore how mindfulness practice affected interbrain synchrony within adolescent peer dyads when sharing emotional experience together by using electroencephalograph hyperscanning approach. Thirty were randomly assigned a group or non-mindfulness group. performed 20-min exercise. Non-mindfulness instructed rest. Simultaneously, was recorded they completed picture-processing task. Phase-locking-value in gamma band used calculate dyads' brain-to-brain synchrony. Results showed that greater frontal region observed viewing different stimuli after than before there no significant difference Moreover, rest region. between The findings are discussed light of broader theoretical questions may promote functioning from psychophysiological perspective.

The task consisted processing stage interaction stage. Event-related potentials (ERPs) senders interbrain synchrony (IBS) were analyzed. Results showed that (1) group higher beta, theta gamma IBS in negative condition than positive neutral condition; (2) condition, N1 LPP amplitudes negatively correlated with within findings suggest dysfunctional may attributed impact stimuli communication.
