Abstract The high overlapping nature of various features across multiple mental health disorders suggests the existence common psychopathology factor(s) (p-factors) that mediate similar phenotypic presentations distinct but relatable disorders. In this perspective, we argue circadian rhythm disruption (CRD) is a underlying p-factor bridges within their age and sex contexts. We present analyze evidence from literature for critical roles rhythmicity plays in regulating mental, emotional, behavioral functions throughout lifespan. A review shows coarse CRD, such as sleep disruption, prevalent all at level etiological pathophysiological mechanisms clinical phenotypical manifestations. Finally, discuss subtle interplay CRD with relation to these different stages life. Our perspective highlights need shift investigations towards molecular levels, instance, by using spatiotemporal “omic” studies animal models identify complex causal relationships between

Abstract There is increasing recognition of ‘higher preference for eveningness’ as a potential independent risk factor poor mental health. To examine the chronotype-mental health relationship while also quantifying roles sleep quality, relevant personality traits, and childhood trauma, we assessed 282 young adults (18–40 years; 195 females) residing in North India, between January March 2023 (to control seasonal variation), using self-report measures diurnal preference, patterns, (depression, anxiety, stress), traits (extraversion, neuroticism, schizotypy, impulsivity), trauma. The results showed significant association eveningness but this was fully mediated by quality. Neuroticism, emotional abuse cognitive disorganisation were correlated with well Neuroticism abuse, not disorganisation, had indirect effects on via Our findings highlight crucial role played quality relationship.

The eight biological hallmarks of health that we initially postulated (Cell. 2021 Jan 7;184(1):33-63) include features spatial compartmentalization (integrity barriers, containment local perturbations), maintenance homeostasis over time (recycling & turnover, integration circuitries, rhythmic oscillations) and an array adequate responses to stress (homeostatic resilience, hormetic regulation, repair regeneration). These affect all somatic strata the human body (molecules, organelles, cells, supracellular units, organs, organ systems, systemic circuitries meta-organism). Here postulate mental socioeconomic factors must be added this 8×8 matrix as additional hallmark (“psychosocial adaptation”) stratum interactions”), hence building a 9×9 matrix. Potentially, perturbation each affects psychosocial vice versa. Finally, discuss (patho)physiological bases these interactions their implications for improvement.

Background Chronotype influences risk of depression, with evening-types at higher risk, although the reasons for this are uncertain. Potential mediating factors include mindfulness, sleep quality, rumination, and alcohol consumption, but research is lacking. Methods We explored role these in association between chronotype depressive symptoms amongst young adults, using cross-sectional data collected from a university student sample ( N = 546). Results Evening-types had significantly levels depression symptoms, poorer lower ‘acting awareness’ ‘describing’, as well rumination consumption. Mediation analyses demonstrated that link was fully mediated by awareness’, Limitations Only subjective measures were employed, due to design, no causal inferences can be made. Conclusion The mediation results shed light on crucial specific mindfulness facets, sleep, consumption explaining why evening types depression; findings have import potential interventions aiming reduce adults particular.

Abstract Eveningness, a preference for later sleep and rise times, has been associated with number of negative outcomes in terms both physical mental health. A large body evidence links eveningness to Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). However, date, quantifying this association is limited. The current meta-analysis included 43 effect sizes from total 27,996 participants. Using random-effects model it was demonstrated that small size (Fisher’s Z = − 2.4, 95% CI [− 0.27. 0.21], p < 0.001). Substantial heterogeneity between studies observed, meta-regression analyses demonstrating significant mean age on the diurnal depression. There also potential publication bias as assessed by visual inspection funnel plots Egger’s test. depression magnitude heterogenous. better understanding mechanistic underpinnings linking suitably powered prospective allow causal inference are required.

Background Evidence indicates that many university students have poor adherence to a healthy diet accompanied by unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. Chrono-nutrition is an emerging field of research examines the pattern optimum daily activity in relation human's dietary patterns, and their reflections variable health indicators such as sleep quality. However, there scarcity relationship between eating pattern, like Mediterranean (MD), with quality chronotype among students. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted, convenience sampling used. Participants were assessed for MD using Diet Quality Index (KIDMED), Pittsburgh Sleep (PSQI), Morningness-Eveningness questionnaire (MEQ). Results The included 503 students, most them (81.5%) females. Only 15.1 16.9% reported morningness good quality, respectively. About half showed medium high KIMED. In-depth analysis revealed more likely (OR = 0.35; 95%CI: 0.21–0.59; P < 0.001) even after adjustment age sex 0.36; 0.21–0.62; 0.001). regression also those had significant association better subjective less latency, disturbance, daytime dysfunction sex. Those about six-fold higher chance 5.67; 2.86–11.26; 0.001, respectively). Conclusions Good presented associated improved overall components.
