Dewatering anaerobic digested sludge leaves a liquid fraction known as reject water, organic fertilizer containing high amounts of ammonium nitrogen (NH4-N). However, its concentration should be enhanced to produce commercial fertilizer. Thus, water nitrification for stabilization well nitrate capture in biochar used slow-release is proposed. This study attempted accomplish by tuning the operating parameters two lab-scale sequential-batch reactors (SBRs), which were fed (containing 520 ± 55 mg NH4-N/L). Sufficient alkalinity per stoichiometric value was needed maintain pH and free nitrous acid (FNA) within optimum range. A loading rate (NLR) 0.14 0.01 kg/m3·d 3.34 days hydraulic retention time (HRT) helped achieved complete 100% reactor 1 (R1) on day 61 2 (R2) 82. After well-developed bacterial biomass, increasing NH4-N up 750 85 mg/L NLR 0.23 0.03 did not affect process. Moreover, feeding sequence once provided adequate contact between nitrifying resulting nitrification. It can concluded that stable with quick adjustment loading, alkalinity, HRT SBRs.
