Abstract With the rapid development of Chinese medicine industry, treatment residues has received widespread attention. This study was performed to investigate removal ammonium and phosphate from wastewater using potassium permanganate (KMnO4) modified residues. The results showed that adsorption performance KMnO4 (MR) significantly efficient on nitrogen phosphorus compared unmodified medicinal (UR). optimal conditions for by MR were modification concentration 0.6 g/L, time 4 h, adsorbent dosage 5 particle size 0.50 mm pH 8. In addition, initial concentrations 40 mg/L 10 mg/L, respectively. UR followed pseudo second-order kinetic model fitted Langmuir isotherm equation. It is great significance resource conservation environmental protection through rational utilization biomass resources

The value-added effect of white rot fungi on the feed Astragalus membranaceus var. mongholicus (AMM) stems was explored. All four types (Lentinus sajor-caju, Pleurotus ostreatus, Lentinula edodes, and Phanerodontia chrysosporium) reduced lignocellulose content in AMM stems, improved vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), influenced activity lignocellulose-degrading enzymes. Lentinus sajor-caju chrysosporium exhibited superior effects lignin degradation IVDMD significantly altered non-volatile metabolites antioxidant capacity. fermentation resulted strongest compared to that other fungal treatments. fold change (FC) ratio (>100) sakuranetin, 2′,6′-Di-O-acetylononin, isoformononetin, artocarpin between chrysosporium. Among phenolic compounds, flavonoids play a key role activity, with 5,6-Dihydroxy-7-methoxyflavone showing strong correlation activity. This study provides valuable insights for utilizing stem waste context traditional Chinese medicine.

Abstract Traditional Chinese medicine has a rich history in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, yet disposal residues by incineration landfilling is challenging. Here we review methods to recycle with focus on challenges, recycling solutions, case studies. Cases studies include extraction bioactive compounds, use as feed additives, biochar-based materials. We observed that from single-compound medicines are easier extract into animal additives or adsorbents. Technical economic analysis show valorisation profitable. For instance, re-extraction cost flavonoids 25.8–36.6% lower than market price, represents 14.7% prices.
