Metabolic diseases have emerged as a leading cause of mortality from non-communicable diseases, posing significant global public health challenge. Although the association between ceramides (Cers) and metabolic is well-established, role acid sphingomyelinase (ASMase)/Cer pathway in these remains underexplored. This review synthesizes recent research on biological functions, regulatory mechanisms, targeted therapies related to ASMase/Cer conditions, including obesity, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease. The effects disease-related indicators, such glycolipid metabolism, insulin resistance, inflammation, mitochondrial homeostasis are elucidated. Moreover, this article discusses therapeutic strategies using inhibitors for inverse prevention treatment light possible efficacy blockade arresting progression diseases. These insights offered herein should provide insight into contribution offer tools develop interventions pathologies their severe complications.

Secondary metabolism is one of the important mechanisms by which fungi adapt to their living environment and promote survival reproduction. Recent studies have shown that epigenetic regulation, such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, non-coding RNAs, plays key roles in fungal secondary affect growth, survival, pathogenicity. This review describes recent advances study regulation metabolism. We discuss way markers respond environmental changes stimulate production biologically active compounds fungi, feasibility these new findings applied develop antifungal strategies optimize In addition, we deliberated on possible future directions research this field. A deeper understanding regulatory networks a focus for research.

Recently, growing attention has focused on the impact of air pollution gut microbiota as a possible mechanism by which pollutant exposure increased risk for chronic diseases, evidenced in vivo studies demonstrating important exposure-induced alterations diversity and relative abundance bacterial taxa. This systematic review provides updated state-of-art findings examining human microbiota. Databases PubMed, Scopus, Web Science were searched with following strategy: “air poll*” AND “gut micro*” OR “intestinal micro*”; moreover, total 10 included. Overall, there is evidence that short-term long-term to pollutants have potential alter composition microbiota; some also correlated adverse health effects (impaired fasting glucose, pregnancy outcomes, asthma attacks) via and/or function However, this topic still scarce, large cohort are needed globally.

Abstract Probiotics have been established to exert a positive impact on the treatment of various diseases. Indeed, these active microorganisms garnered significant attention in recent years for their potential prevent and treat illnesses. Their beneficial effects hypothesized be linked released extracellular vesicles. These nanoscale structures, secreted during growth metabolism probiotics, possess favorable biocompatibility targeting properties, thereby promoting intercellular material transport signaling. This article aimed review bioactive components functions probiotics vesicles, highlighting role diseases discussing future applications. By exploring mechanisms probiotic vesicles disease development, this provide theoretical reference further research therapeutic potential. © 2025 Society Chemical Industry.
