Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was the term first used to describe hepatic steatosis in patients with metabolic syndrome who did not consume excess amounts of alcohol. Alcoholic (ALD) has many similarities NAFLD both pathogenesis and histology. This entity is now most prevalent chronic worldwide as a consequence epidemic obesity. Attempts incorporate importance development resulted renaming metabolic-associated disease. new term, however, disadvantage use terms that may be perceived derogatory. The non-alcoholic have negative connotations cultures. In addition, usually applicable pediatric cases steatosis. Recently, an international collaborative effort, participants from 56 countries, after global consultation process, recommended change nomenclature steatotic -including dysfunction- associated disease, steatohepatitis dysfunction-associated ALD. terminology consistent previously published epidemiological studies will major impact on research into diagnosis, prognosis treatment.

While obesity-related nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is linked with metabolic dysfunctions such as insulin resistance and adipose tissue inflammation, lean NAFLD more often progresses to fibrosis even in the absence of syndrome. This review aims summarize current knowledge regarding mechanisms NAFLD. The most commonly used models include a methionine/choline-deficient (MCD) diet, high-fat diet carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), high-fructose high-cholesterol diet. major pro-fibrogenic increased activation extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway, elevated expression α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), collagen type I, TGF-β, modulation fibrogenic markers tenascin-X metalloproteinase inhibitors. Additionally, macrophage signaling pathways promoting hepatic stellate cell (HSC) further contributes development. Animal cannot cover all clinical features that are evident patients or obese NAFLD, implicating need for novel models, well deeper comparisons experimental studies. Having mind prevalence patients, by addressing specific pathways, studies can reveal new targeted therapies along biomarkers early detection enhancement management patients.

The global incidence of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is increasing annually, which has become a major public-health concern. MAFLD typically associated with obesity, hyperlipemia, or syndrome. Dietary induction one the most common methods for preparing animal models MAFLD. However, there are phenotypic differences between methionine-choline-deficient diet (MCDD) and high fat (HFD) models. To explore in hepatic acid metabolism MCDD HFD induced MAFLD, we analyzed serum tissue from two We found that accumulation function damage were pathological features both Furthermore, model, expression transport proteins increased, while efflux mRNA decreased, along decrease blood lipid levels. In uptake proteins, an increase Impaired oxidation increased play key roles pathogenesis inverse changes de novo lipogenesis may represent important mechanism leads to
