Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a complex, polyfactorial condition which involves multiple genes and body systems. The development of PCOS may be attributed to several factors such as genetics, epigenetics, hyperandrogenism, insulin resistance, environmental factors. Current medication used treat have been shown ineffective thus the novel therapeutics necessary. Numerous types stem cells can play therapeutic role in treatment including mesenchymal cells, bone marrow stromal adipose derived menstrual blood umbilical cord amniotic fluid cells. Potential limitations include transplant rejection, transportation storage difficulties, commercialization difficulty, safety issues without monitoring.
