Abstract Metronidazole is well-known antibiotic which, globally, ranks high in popular usage. Therefore, traces of residues this were identified aquatic bodies. A photosynthetic cyanobacterium, the microalgae category, S. platensis , has been found to be efficient removal antibiotic. This study was performed evaluate efficiency metronidazole from aqueous environments. To set up optimum conditions for facilitating removal, BBD model employed. The experiment included following parameters: initial level (10–80 mg/L), pH (4–10), contact time (10–60 min), and biomass dose (0.1–0.5 g/L). From findings it evident that able remove 88.15% under conditions: 38.05 min, 35 mg/L, 7.71 a 0.3 g/L. quadratic revealed concentration chief variable influenced its rate. MNZ rate observed follow pseudo-second-order Freundlich model. thermodynamic data appeared process biosorption spontaneous, exothermic physical. results could used as an inexpensive biosorbent solutions.
