In order to study the effect of cotton stalk particle size on humification, stalks different lengths (5 cm, 10 15 cm) were co-composted with pig manure for 49 days. The results showed that cm treatment (T2) maintained a high-temperature stage 8 days, and total organic carbon decreased by 60.0%. T2 highest cellulose (57.0%) hemicellulose (77.1%) degradation rate, lowest lignin accumulation (69.8%), humus content (34.94 g/kg), which was 88.1% higher than in initial stage. FTIR analysis revealed significant changes functional groups. aromatic C=C stretching vibration (1650 cm−1) group increased 79.8%, showing better aromatization degree other two Two-dimensional spectroscopy phenolic alcohol hydroxyl groups first involved followed polysaccharides, hemicellulose, lignin, structures, enhanced this material transformation pathway. Microbial diversity identified seven main phyla, among Planctomycetota Acidobacteria abundance, closely related cellulose, compounds. Second, abundance characteristic species such as Planifilum fulgidum also certain advantages group. summary, optimized microbial activity matter effectively regulated composting humification process.

The accumulation of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) from piglet feed, coupled with inadequate compost maturation, hinders the safe land application pig manure (PM). This study employed self-organizing maps (SOMs) integrated three-dimensional excitation–emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy (3D-EEM) parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) to evaluate PM maturity Cu/Zn passivation under different biochar (BC) dosages (0%, 8%, 10%, 12%). results revealed that SOM clustering effectively distinguished composting phases organic matter transformation trends, while network identified key microbial modules (M5, M6) linked passivation. Moreover, 12% BC accelerated maximizing humic content (C1: anthropogenic; C4: terrestrial) by increasing Luteimonas abundance (241.98%) reducing Terrisporobacter (92%). It also achieved highest Cu (36.36%) Zn (32.34%) Although 10% promoted C4 synthesis but inhibited C1 formation, it ultimately reached a similar level BC. Additionally, demonstrated comparable (34.85%) (27.89%) passivation, making more cost-effective alternative. These findings highlight as robust tool for evaluation, optimizing improving efficiency.

Direct land application of conventional compost may cause ecological risks due to the presence heavy metals. To effectively reduce metal bioavailability in compost, a multi-component passivator comprising Candida utilis, sodium humate, zeolite and attapulgite was developed, which showed passivation rates 59.28%, 86.93% 38.95% for zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), ferrum (Fe), respectively, compost. The addition customized not only reduced mobility metals, but also improved quality further increased abundance lignocellulose-degrading beneficial microorganisms Subsequent fertilization results that product fermented with greatly growth Chinese cabbage, significant increases height, weight, root length, total chlorophyll contents 97.63%, 210.13%, 20.42%, 40.38%, respectively. It can be concluded custom-made is expected good additive passivation, high-quality plant growth.

Promoting humification during composting is of pivotal significance for converting organic waste to value-added fertilizer. Traditional additives enhanced commonly suffer from low efficiency and a large dosage. Herein, we presented novel effective technique with great application potential promote via simple addition trace MnFe2O4, behind which the essential mechanism was interpreted both chemical biological perspectives. Results indicated that an economical dosage MnFe2O4 (0.02 wt %), content humic acid (HA) index (HI) were increased by 15.2 18.7% in comparison control group, respectively. The steering such revealed through analysis precursor substances evolution HA structural characterization. Specifically, catalyzed polyphenol-Maillard reaction, leading rapid oxidation subsequent polymerization substances. Meanwhile, diversity microbial communities as well activities laccase peroxidase demonstrated relative abundance laccase/peroxidase-producing bacteria thus elevated enzymatic laccase/peroxidase, played crucial roles catalyzing reaction humification. This study demonstrates could serve promising additive thereby produce composts.

Abstract Aerobic composting was carried out in a greenhouse using home-made compost bins, and the changes humus(HS) composition of composted manure with different proportions wood vinegar(WV) added to pig rice straw as raw materials were studied. Since temperature, water content pH very from those summer compost, they used basic evaluation indices maturity. Rice straw(RS) Swine (SM) test materials, water-soluble carbon (C WSS ), extractable humic HE HA FA ) HU investigated, humus decomposition coefficients dynamically analyzed. The findings demonstrated that 1.25% 1.75% vinegar affect humification. Meanwhile, results Ratio absorbance organic substances at 465 665 under UV spectrophotometer (E4/E6) indicated aromatic ring WV solution more stable after condensation, hominin HS stabilizing component complete concentration 1.75%. Consequently, this study revealed efficient stimulating pile cold conditions.
