Composting is a process that emits environmentally harmful gases: CO2, CO, H2S, and NH3, negatively affecting the quality of mature compost. The addition biochar to compost can significantly reduce emissions. For effective CO2 removal, high doses (up 20%) are often recommended. Nevertheless, as production efficiency low-up 90% mass loss-there need for research into effectiveness lower doses. In this study, laboratory experiments were conducted observe gaseous emissions during first 10 days composting with biochars obtained from composts. Biochars produced at 550, 600, 650 °C, tested different 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15% per dry matter (d.m.) in mixtures, three incubation temperatures (50, 60, 70 °C). NH3 measured daily. results showed effectively mitigate intensive phase composting. Even 3-6% d.m. up 50% total gas (the best treatment was B650 60 °C) increase content macronutrients. This study confirmed even low have potential enhancing improving material quality.

This study aimed to reveal mechanisms of nitrogen changes in a mixed compost diseased pig carcasses and sawdust after adding exogenous microbial agents. It was found that agents significantly increased the content various types germination index plants. Microbial dominance phyla correlated with indicators physicochemical properties copy number nitrogen-functional genes, simultaneous fixation, nitrification, denitrification, ammonification, glutamate synthesis during composting. At end composting, TKN, NH4+-N, NO3−-N contents were by 1.914–3.082 mg/g, 0.047–0.42 0.247–0.303 respectively, experimental groups compared control group. Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Planctomycetes five predominant phyla, while Sphingobacterium, Paenalcaligenes two special genera this experiment. After inoculation agents, levels nitrate positively (p < 0.05) glnA gene related 0.01) Planctomycetes, amoA, GDH2, GLUD1-2 genes Paenalcaligenes. The combined analysis has shown amoA 0.001) such as nxrA, GDH2 GLUD1-2, well temperature, organic nitrogen, correlation negative nirB nirS. Inoculation can prolong high-temperature period, which extended 5, 6, 5 days each group, roles also be changed. Meanwhile, we addition could promote growth alteration microorganisms, regulated stability symbiosis transformation process.

In order to study the effect of cotton stalk particle size on humification, stalks different lengths (5 cm, 10 15 cm) were co-composted with pig manure for 49 days. The results showed that cm treatment (T2) maintained a high-temperature stage 8 days, and total organic carbon decreased by 60.0%. T2 highest cellulose (57.0%) hemicellulose (77.1%) degradation rate, lowest lignin accumulation (69.8%), humus content (34.94 g/kg), which was 88.1% higher than in initial stage. FTIR analysis revealed significant changes functional groups. aromatic C=C stretching vibration (1650 cm−1) group increased 79.8%, showing better aromatization degree other two Two-dimensional spectroscopy phenolic alcohol hydroxyl groups first involved followed polysaccharides, hemicellulose, lignin, structures, enhanced this material transformation pathway. Microbial diversity identified seven main phyla, among Planctomycetota Acidobacteria abundance, closely related cellulose, compounds. Second, abundance characteristic species such as Planifilum fulgidum also certain advantages group. summary, optimized microbial activity matter effectively regulated composting humification process.

Two different sewage sludge (SS) waste materials were commercially co-composted with wood chips (WCh) and grass to determine their conversion potential elucidate the manner that it is affected by various process operational parameters. A blend of three SS streams composted more efficiently in terms temperature attained during than a single stream when co-treated WCh acting as bulking agent. facilitated accomplishment over sanitation limit concurrently establishment high decomposition rate long period. Further increasing fraction composting mixture had an insignificant effect on organics SS. The presence negative influence retained below sanitization limits entire process. Aeration led increment but all cases enhancement remained at levels lower 20 °C throughout trials. Concentration heavy metals mixtures was sufficiently reduced regardless type, mixing ratio, use secondary organic substrate aeration.
