China is the world's largest consumer and second producer of bananas. This strong domestic demand consistently provides a reliable income for Chinese banana growers. The geographical origin food usually associated with product quality safety, this especially noted Hainan origin-labeled bananas, which are grown offshore on China's tropical island. recognized as premium variety within market, but there have been recent impacts branding, profits, reduction in farmers due to fraudulent in-market substitution non-Hainan In study, stable isotope elemental chemometric models were used differentiate bananas province (HN) from provinces (NHN). results showed that HN had specific isotopic fingerprint compared NHN Bananas sampled regions significant differences δ13C values (HN: -22.2‱ -27.7‱, NHN: -22.3‱ -24.3‱), Al content 0.00 mg/kg 0.10 mg/kg, 0.02 mg/kg), Na 0.09 0.07 other elements (p < 0.05). Overall, 14 key variables reflecting climate soil properties selected group 53 improve partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) model. discrimination accuracy test set increased 84.60% 90.93% after variable reduction. use isotopes combined PLS-DA provided an effective method distinguishing would be useful screening or regulatory tool confirm instances fraud.
