The effect of dissolved oxygen (DO) limitation strategies on the nitrogen removal performance SNAD system under high DO damage was explored. Nitrogen efficiency (NRE) decreased rapidly in a environment (2.0-3.0 mg/L). NRE temporarily recovered to 87.32% after limiting strategy adopted. However, 59.35% with rapid increase nitrate concentration and average anaerobic ammonia oxidation rate 1.37 mg-TN/(gVSS-h). In order suppress gradually increasing concentration, further limited 0.3-1.0 mg/L. This effectively stabilised achieved recovery anammox bacteria (AnAOB) activity, but could not stably restore denitrification performance. At same time, pH dropped below 7, which hindered restoration efficacy. can AnAOB activity. Achieving stable may require synergistic adjustments alkalinity hydraulic retention among other strategies.

Abstract Interest is growing in potable reuse response to water scarcity and the desire for sustainable supplies. While systems must control a variety of physical, chemical, microbiological contaminants, human enteric viruses are particularly concerning drive process performance objectives due their often‐high occurrence source waters, small size, potential resistance treatment, laborious methods determine infectivity. This paper reviews alignment online monitoring practices with mechanisms time scales various barriers viruses. there numerous studies individual barriers, no other review has been identified that covers operational entire system. also provides critical assessment efficacy current verification integrity systems. The prevalence wastewater associated challenges quantifying them through treatment discussed within risk management frameworks currently use or under development Monitoring approaches then reviewed throughout cycle. Current compared scales, biological membrane bioreactors, microfiltration/ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet irradiation/advanced oxidation, ozonation, granular media/biologically active filtration, chlorination. pathogen removal both environmental engineered buffers.
