Abstract Torrefaction of Macadamia husk (MAH) under a proposed exhaust gas atmosphere (O 2 5%, CO 15%, and balance N v/v) was conducted. It performed in batch torrefactor at temperature 200, 250, 300 °C duration 30 min. Influence torrefaction on the physicochemical properties, energy yield (EY), mass co-benefit index (EMCI) investigated. found that conventional had higher than flue torrefaction. The remarkably enriches calorific value MAH due to larger fixed carbon lower volatile matter. torrefied husks have contact angles between 118 133°, which are 90°, representing hydrophobic fuel. optimal suggested operate 200 min reach highest EMCI. Utilization can be choice use waste heat efficiently reduce cost air separation.
