This study focused on the start-up and operating characteristics of endogenous partial denitrification (EPD) process with different carbon sources. Two sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) sodium acetate (SBR1#) glucose (SBR2#) as sources were operated under anaerobic/oxic (A/O) anaerobic/anoxic/oxic (A/A/O) modes successively for 240 d. The results showed that COD removal efficiency reached 85% effluent concentrations below 35 mg/L in both SBRs. difference was faster absorption transformation achieved compared to (COD rate (CRR) 7.54 > 2.22 mgCOD/(L·min) SBR1# SBR2#). EPD could be started up sources, respectively, desirable high nitrite accumulations obtained at influent NO3−−N (NO3−-Ninf) increased from 20 40 nitrate-to-nitrite ratio (NTR) specific NO3−-N deduction (rNa) 88.4~90% 2.41~2.38 mgN/(gVSS·h), respectively. However, 50~60 mg/L, NTR rNa higher SBR2# (86.5% 83.9% 1.58 1.20 respectively). Hereafter, when by 70~90 lower observed than (72% 78%, 1.16 1.32 Additionally, similar internal transformations drive NO2−−N accumulation, especially source glucose. precise control anoxic time peak point (TNi,max) still key achieve accumulation.
