ABSTRACT Microalgae play a crucial role in aquaculture due to their nutritional value and antimicrobial properties, yet harvesting them can be energy intensive. To address this, microalgal–bacterial interactions have emerged as sustainable approach, enhancing growth rates wastewater treatment efficiency but also significantly improve nutrient cycling, particularly through the removal of ammonia phosphorus. These range from mutualism antagonism, influencing exchange ecological niche formation. Despite potential, integration bacterial–microalgal consortia remains limited aquaculture. This review aims expand understanding these interactions, benefits, optimizing systems. Various aspects microalgae–bacterial including mutualistic commensal relationships, antibiotics production by algae, algicidal bacteria, are discussed. Factors such availability, physical environment, chemical signaling, microbial community composition, explored. The potential effects on aquaculture, enhanced revenue, efficiency, sustainability, highlighted. Further research is needed identify bacterial groups' influence microalgal output for productivity commercial Understanding leveraging could practices.
