The release of chemicals into water systems has resulted in pollution many parts the world, threatening human health and aquatic ecosystems. To combat pollution, European Union introduced several directives that set concentration limits for drinking water, surface groundwater. meet these limits, it is essential rapid, reliable, sensitive analytical detection be developed put use. This Review presents progress made development electrochemical biosensors environmental toxicants (pesticides heavy metals) over past seven years (2014–2020). Heavy metal pollution remains a major concern for the public today, in line with growing population and global industrialization. ion (HMI) is threat to human environmental safety, even at low concentrations, thus rapid continuous HMI monitoring essential. Among sensors available detection, field-effect transistor (FET) sensor demonstrates promising potential fast real-time detection. The aim of this review provide condensed overview contribution certain semiconductor substrates development chemical biosensor FETs detection past decade. A brief introduction FET along its construction configuration presented first part review. Subsequently, deployment issue intrinsic limitation screening effect are also discussed, solutions overcome these shortcomings summarized. The development of simple and rapid toxicity detection methods has important practical significance. In this work, a dual-signal method with colorimetric electrochemical properties for water was proposed the first time based on color reaction between Escherichia coli (E. coli) p-benzoquinone (BQ). Here, E. used as biocatalyst BQ mediator. An IC50 value 0.75 mg L–1 Cu2+ obtained using two-step method. Strikingly, could also be estimated visually by naked eye, minimum limit 3.2 Cu2+. extends function BQ, result is more reliable than traditional single-signal This shows certain application prospects.
