Photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing based on chemical or biological recognition has received a tremendous amount of attention in recent years, providing analytical chemists plethora opportunities. However, emerging techniques and unknown processes this field remain unexplored. We summarize the recently reported PEC methods. First, we briefly describe basic principles technical characteristics sensing. Next, highlight application various materials, nucleic acids, other strategies for amplifying signals. Finally, discuss current state knowledge regarding realization miniaturized equipment during sensor manufacturing. Summarizing technological advances research breakthroughs over time can help increase quality follow-up research.
