Biosurfactants have garnered increased attention lately due to their superiority of properties over fossil-derived counterparts. While the cost production remains a significant hurdle surpass synthetic surfactants, biosurfactants been anticipated gain larger market share in coming decades. Among these, glycolipids, type low-molecular-weight biosurfactant, stand out for efficacy reducing surface and interfacial tension, which made them highly sought-after various surfactant-related applications. Glycolipids are composed hydrophilic carbohydrate moieties linked hydrophobic fatty acid chains through ester bonds that mainly include rhamnolipids, trehalose lipids, sophorolipids, mannosylerythritol lipids. This review highlights current landscape glycolipids covers specific glycolipid productivity diverse range products found global market. Applications such as bioremediation, food processing, petroleum refining, biomedical uses, increasing agriculture output discussed. Additionally, latest advancements reduction challenges utilizing second-generation feedstocks sustainable also thoroughly examined. Overall, this proposes balance between environmental advantages, economic viability, societal benefits optimized integration secondary biosurfactant production.

Abstract Preservatives are essential components in cosmetic products, but their safety issues have attracted widespread attention. There is an urgent need for safe and effective alternatives. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) part of the innate immune system potent antimicrobial properties. Using machine learning-assisted rational design, we obtained a novel antibacterial peptide, IK-16-1, with significant activity maintaining based on β-defensins. IK-16-1 has broad-spectrum properties against Escherichia coli , Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas aeruginosa Candida albicans no haemolytic activity. The use holds promise cosmetics industry, since it can serve as preservative synergist to reduce amount other preservatives cosmetics. This study verified feasibility combining computational design artificial intelligence prediction AMPs, achieving rapid screening reducing development costs.

Natural surfactants are surface-active molecules synthesized from renewable resources (i.e., plants, animals, or microorganisms) and possess properties comparable to conventional surfactants, making them an environmentally friendly potential alternative petrochemical surfactants. Additionally, they exhibit biological such as anti-microbial properties, biodegradability, less toxicity, allowing their use in everyday products with minimal risk human health the environment. Based on mode of production, natural can be classified into first-generation bio-based second-generation biosurfactants, although definition may vary depending author literature. This review offers extensive classification focusing composition, sources, production methods, applications across various industries. Furthermore, main challenges future perspectives discussed.

Biofilms are bacterial communities embedded in exopolymeric substances that form on the surfaces of both man-made and natural structures. Biofilm formation industrial water systems such as cooling towers results biofouling biocorrosion poses a major health concern well an economic burden. Traditionally, biofilms treated with alternating doses oxidizing non-oxidizing biocides, but resistance increases, higher biocide concentrations needed. Using chemically synthesized surfactants combination biocides is also not new idea; however, these often biodegradable lead to accumulation reservoirs. Biosurfactants have become essential bioeconomy product for diverse applications; reports their use combating biofilm-related problems management limited only few studies. powerful anti-biofilm agents can act biodispersants. In laboratory settings, efficacy biosurfactants range between 26% 99.8%. For example, long-chain rhamnolipids isolated from Burkholderia thailandensis inhibit biofilm 50% 90%, while lipopeptide biosurfactant Bacillus amyloliquefaciens was able up 96% 99%. Additionally, disperse preformed 95.9%. The antibiotics be increased by 25% when combined biosurfactants, seen V9T14 co-formulated ampicillin, cefazolin, tobramycin. this review, we discuss how formed if agents, future systems. We then summarize reported mode action molecules functionality dispersal agents. Finally, highlight application anti-fouling anti-corrosion

Oil-in-water emulsions are used in a variety of applications, but they often unstable and can break down over time due to different mechanisms such as flocculation coalescence, well gravitational separation, like creaming sedimentation, which occur either independently or concurrently. This study investigated the utilize chitin nanocrystals (ChiNCs) stabilizers for O/W is derived from green renewable material. ChiNCs were produced by acid hydrolysis powder. The ChiNC's TEM results showed needle-like morphology with length 200–800 nm width 20–80 nm. surface charge negative at pH > 7 positive < 7. rheological properties stabilized compared those synthetic surfactants Tween 80 CTAB. ChiNC-stabilized had higher yield stress lower shear viscosity than surfactants, makes them more stable less likely down. suggests that promising alternative stabilizing emulsions.
