Abstract Microplastics (MPs) have become an important concern among scientists and policymakers all around the globe. Despite this, contribution of MPs to global warming climate change, a significant aspect issue, has been overlooked. Continuous greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting in change long major issue with apparent consequences. Climate plastic crises are threatening our planet, co-occurrence both would be catastrophic. This article addressed links between microplastic pollution change; how contribute by interacting water, air, soil; recommendations address issues together. Throughout their lives, plastics emit GHG. water impede mitigation potential ocean different ways; they hamper photosynthesis carbon sequestration phytoplankton Blue Carbon Ecosystem. induce GHG from soil. Airborne aid cloud formation interfere atmospheric cooling. change–induced extreme events redistribute environment, causing increase vertically horizontally, which then aggravates situation feedback loop. The evidence acquired study implies that inextricably linked play vital role fueling change. bridges gap were previously regarded separately. Due linkages these intertwined challenges, integrated holistic research policy measures required concurrently.

Although plastics provide numerous conveniences for human life, concerns about ecosystems and life are rising tremendously due to increased plastic production consumption. The ubiquitous presence undeniable distribution of microplastics (MPs) in agricultural usage created a major risk concern soil ecology health. ecological assessment sites the Coimbatore region South India has been evaluated using three indices: Pollution Hazard Index (PHI), Load (PLI), Potential Ecological Risk (PERI). Based on concentration hazardous MPs (Polyethylene, polystyrene, polyacrylonitrile, polyacrylamide, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride) sampling sites, indicated level inorganic fertilizers applied site. Meanwhile, PLI that all were category I with low pollution load region. However, hazard scores polymers PERI values exhibited their extremely dangerous category. Since models evaluating not yet developed, this calculation is cautiously calculated further research could gradually add base reference data understanding distribution, risk, trophic transfer MPs.

The pervasive use of artificial polymers, particularly plastics, poses significant environmental challenges due to their durability and resistance degradation. Traditional disposal methods are inadequate, leading persistent pollution ecological disruption. Fundamental processes such as enzymatic microbial degradation highlighted, showcasing enzymes like PETase laccase microorganisms Ideonella sakaiensis Pseudomonas sp. integration biomass with advanced technologies, including bioreactors genetic engineering. benefits this approach include reduced a sustainable method for addressing plastic waste. In contrast, economic social encompass the creation green jobs promotion bio-economy. Despite technical challenges, ongoing research supportive policies crucial advancing biomass-based strategies. This chapter underscores potential in developing solutions mitigate promote harmony.
