Introduction Exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) is associated with a range of poor long-term health outcomes, including multimorbidity and chronic pain. Epidemiological evidence underpins much this relationship; however, psychophysical testing methods, such as quantitative sensory (QST), may provide valuable insights into potential mechanisms. Previous studies have shown inconsistent links between ACEs QST, but the QST profiles people not been reported. We hypothesise that exposure lowered thresholds (ie, experience pain milder stimuli) association stronger in adults and/or The ACE-MAP study cross-sectional feasibility primary aim assessing acceptability proposed procedures. secondary generate preliminary data understand impact on thresholds. Methods analysis plan recruit 40 participants, 10 each following groups: (1) multimorbidity; (2) without (3) pain; (4) controls. Participants will complete series questionnaires (including ACEs, conditions) then take part assessments. outcomes include measures design. exploratory relationship Ethics dissemination was approved by Scotland B Research Committee (reference: 24/SS/0031). Results from be presented at scientific conferences, published peer-reviewed journal shared patients members public through other media streams. Trial registration number ISRCTN10049430 .
