Interaction Between Social Support and Muscle Dysmorphia: The Role of Self-Efficacy and Social Media Use

Muscle
dysmorphia
(MD)
consists
of
a
type
body
dysmorphic
disorder
and
involves
distorted
perception
one’s
muscles,
strict
diets,
workouts.
Mostly,
studies
focus
on
adult
male
athletes,
especially
bodybuilders,
while
research
adolescents
women
is
limited.
Our
study
aims
to
explore
potential
protective
or
risk
factors
influencing
MD,
using
mediation
model
calculated
through
Structural
Equation
Modeling
(SEM)
at
the
same
time
help
involve
female
individuals
in
exploration
distress
traditionally
predominantly
analyzed
only
individuals.
The
examines
whether
problematic
social
media
use
(PSMU)
generalized
self-efficacy
(GSE)
are
first-
second-level
mediators,
respectively,
relationship
between
perceived
support
(PSS)

With
the
rise
of
virtual
avatars
in
professional,
educational,
and
recreational
settings,
this
study
investigates
how
different
avatar
types—varying
realism,
gender,
identity—affect
user
perceptions
embodiment,
acceptability,
technostress,
privacy,
preferences.
Two
studies
were
conducted
with
42
participants

professionals

VR
experiences.

platform
designers

realism
comfort

encourage
broader
adoption
applications.
